Sky giving priority to Khan over Wlad/Haye makes no sense.

I agree that Haye - Wlad is the fight, and I assume Sky know this. That's why I would guess that Khan already has a contracted date cemented with Sky in April. It makes sense considering both him and Golden boy have said several times they'll fight in April, in the summer and towards the end of the year. Even directly after Maidana. If Sky pulled the plug it would **** up Khan's/Goldenboy's plans and I imagine they would be eligible for compensation.

Again, I'm just speculating!

I hope Wlad was serious about having the 2 fights and Haye just bloody accepts Wlads offer of July 2nd and get this fight on!

 

Khan is a long term investment with Sky though and he has potential mega fights down the line. Haye wants out of boxing by October so they could cash in quick with Haye vs Wlad or they could hedge their bets and stand by Khan.
I may be wrong but im pretty sure Khan is still the box office bread winner and Haye seriously hurt his reputation with the Harrison fight, Sky received a hell of a lot of complaints had to fork out a fair bit of £££ in refunds to angry customers for that fight.

**** these networks,just do it on free channel in uk,another channel in germany,or both just do hbo/showtime,and only do primetime for uk and germany.

 

People have taken these comments about the Khan fight to mean something it doesn't

The Khan fight is not the reason April could not be made. Klit's could fight on the 30th only. The royal wedding is on the 29th. This makes the fight almost impossible even without Khan. Khan's fight on the 16th would mean they would have to promote Khan, then have 14 days to switch to promoting Haye taking the wedding into consideration. It just isnt feasible.

That fight made Sky a fortune, however it did create a bit of bad press. If Sky could do it all again, they would still do the same thing, because it made them a huge sum of money.. and as ever, the public easily forgets. A mere few weeks later they did pretty well on the Khan PPV.

 

Wlad can only fight on April 30th.

Sky doesn't want to broadcast it on that day because it would get less interest because of the royal wedding also happening on that day.

 

especially when you consider Sky will not show Bradley vs Alexander or Marquez vs Morales.

 

But they stand to make money from both, so I can't see them caring when either happens as long as it does.

Also, bear in mind this fight only collapsed in the last couple of days, so Goldenboy won't even have had time to react properly yet, I imagine there's a fair bit going on behind the scenes.

 

I dont understnd this as david haye is a bigger ppv seller than Khan by a long shot, which is surprising giving that it was because of his sole win over the giant, amazing what one fight can do.

 

There's lots of reasons...

- Haye fights at Heavyweight
- Klit's are a big name
- Khan is asian

 

Looks like Sky doesn't give a crap about Haye anymore, and why would they. Haye has confirmed multiple times that he'll retire in 10 months. I completely understand that Sky has a vested interest in a long-term relationship with Khan over a Haye who appears to be disillusioned with his boxing career.
