He's really only faced three actual welters. Zab, Baldo, and Mosley. When you consider Margo, Cotto, Paul Williams and Pac were at one time or another boxing in the same division, that is quite poor. Definately not done enough for his name to up there in the discussion.

can some one give an example or an article where they said Floyd was rated high at WW all time?

I'm not sure i have ever heard anyone rate him as an all time top WW at all.

shane-floyd showed us that albeit floyd has superior boxing skills to most today, had he fought more actively, the chance of him getting hurt, or probably even losing would have been greater.

Your thread title say people are rating him as the best ww ever. Your content says just rating him high. Two different things.

I have not seen a thread poll that rates him the best ever or high based off resume.

There was an ESB survey on Welterweights not long ago where Floyd ended up at #35 on the WW ATG. Although he had votes for first place, which amazes me to this day.

so fighting the best and losing gives cotto bonus points?

cotto has lost 2 WW fights against margo and pac. I even had him losing to clottey and I wasn't the only one, which would make it 3.

Cotto has fought better competition at the time, but no way can I rank him ahead of floyd at WW based on that fact alone.

Floyd is barely 5"8 started hi career at 130 and has brittle hands. Baldomir is the only fighter he ever fought who started his career at 147. Floyd was many skill levels above Carlos, but the size allowed Baldomir to chase Floyd all night to a boring UD.

Floyd's prime weights were 130 & 140 imo. I don't know how anyone can rank him alltime @WW as this was his ceiling. Real WW's147 is just there ground floor they go on to compete at Middle and even LHW.

disagree. Floyd's resume at 140 and 135 is nothing out of this world at all.
