If you are mentally stable and confident in yourself like I was in my boxing days, it's all about the physical side, my fitness was all I ever needed to care about. So I would say it's mostly mental, without proper mental stability you can't perform anything to the best of your ability.
Tyson was a fighter who did think in the ring when him and Kevin Rooney were together ,but as a fighter when you have more than 8 trainers in your life and 5 managers you will lose your mental edge no matter how strong you are. You have to have that Mental power works every time.
Good point, one of the more recent cases of a top fighter who lost confidence and his MENTAL edge and was never the same again. The jermain taylor case is a good example as he was fairly skilled and a good middleweight who held physical advantgaes over his oppoents for the most part at the weight, yet when he lost that edge and got ko'd he was never the same again. Contreversially his rival kelly pavlik was a very limited fighter but one with great MENTAL attitude but held a sturdy chin and was a throwback in terms of his toughness. But once he fought hopkins got DEMOIRALISED in that fight he lost his mental edge and it basically got taken away from him never to be the same again. The interesting thing is in both these cases the fighters were doing fine at top level until the MENTAL edge vanished but the interesting thought is why did they never reach that pinnacle they were at, afterall their physical selfs were still their. :deal
Tyson lost his mental edge around the time of Givens and King.. It would have been amazing watching him against the 90's era with a strong mental makeup...
Mental.....if you have the skill and the physical aspect...knowing how and when to use these talents wins fights....but if you do not know how to use these talents to maximize your chances of winning...then your probaly fukked sooner rather than later. But in all....its best you have all three!
im a fighter and if anyone told you it was physical, that means they never fought a day in there life. Its way more mental. Ive been in the ring with guys way more phyiscally fit then me and out boxed, gutted the **** out them just because they don't have the mental advantage. But the things is most people who are really in boxing are already fit.
:deal This is my point, Popkins has stated that he is a boxer so he of all people should know that mental is more superior, he has been exposed.
That's bull**** ur talking like u didn't bring anything to the table tho ... maybe u were stronger , faster, had a better chin, maybe he couldn't take punches to the body or maybe ur delusional and thought u outwilled him but in reality he whooped that ass and u landed a couple decent shots (that happens a lot)...
It would take a stupid ***** to make boxing as simple as Physical vs Mental...how bout a combination of things? I guess you guys wouldn't be smart enough to understand the complexity of things so you have to simplify it to 2nd grade level. ******s.
The key word is 'MORE' .... obviously both are involved ... the debate is; which is there 'MORE' of? .... maybe u should do the whole 'simplifying to 2nd grade' thing maybe ull fully understand the question
dude I hate reading BS like your slinging because you never fought a day in your life. See you're lost in the promoters smoke screen game. The **** you're talking has little or nothing to do with boxing. You're what they call an"I.B.F." or IGNORANT BOXING FAN" and the lack of bouts made and the demise of the sport is largely your fault just like the promoters. You don't have a clue as to what fights should be made because other than the Internet and Youtube there's no POINT of REFERENCE AT ALL TO IDENTIFY BOXING SKILLS. This was made apparent from your directionless sorted irrelevant comments. make a comment relative to boxing and not the same ol *******ation that you sorry mutha****as always come with.
