Does anybody rekon Lennox Lewis has brain damage..? or Floyd Mayweather..?

I can remember a article about some journey man, sparring partner. And its the amount of punishment and wars that happen inside gyms, that overall do most of the damage.

whenever you recieve any type of hard enough blow to the head its technicaly an injury to the brain, whether it be a fall or punch

That's true. Every time someone gets knocked out it's "severe brain trauma" that's why you lose conciousness the body shuts down momentarily to prevent further damage.

Every time you are hit you lose brain cells. Every time you are knocked out you suffer concussion. I would love to know which neurosurgeon was more worried about football ? Every one i have spoken to, and i work daily with them ( i am a neuroradiographer ) says from a medical stand point boxing is stupid. They mean by knowingly taking repeated blows to the head. But on the flip side many more sports have a higher risk of death. Boxing only affects the willing participants, unlike say mountaineering, where rescuers die yearly. Boxing does also continually try to improve the safety aspect, which is why random drug testing is a must, whereas F1 actually makes cars less safe ( albeit as a side effect of making the sport more watchable ). Boxing training is great exercise, for a nation of fatties where heart disease kills thousands, suddenly boxing is not too bad. Thats without even mentioning alchohol, or smoking.

What are brain injuries though? Because I reckon 100% of people will injure their brain at some point, it's unavoidable.

I imagine the doctor who was more worried about "football" meant American football where there are serious head traumas every match.

wonder how many brain cells cocain or heroin kills? plus not many boys and girls who like that stuff can be found working out and looking really fit in the local gym.

exactly anyone taking training seriously lays off ***s, booze, drugs and general merriment, saving them from enough damage to more than make up for punches to the head. Thats before you even go into the biggest killer in the UK heart disease and the benefits you get from being fit and healthy. As some said earlier sensationalist writing. Also obviously different people are capable of withstanding different amounts of punishment before serious injury is caused so there is an element of luck/genetics in it.
