Lightweight Bout 15 rounds Thoughts ? Who ? Why ? It´s an interesting fight for sure.......Shane was impressive at that weight.....in my opinion.......but Ortiz was more proven, so.... :good
I'm torn between Ortiz's better technique/defense/timing and Mosley's inhuman speed/power/chin/size. I lean towards Ortiz but not confidently
I lean toward Ortiz confidently...he was in a class by himself. A decisive 15 round decision for Ortiz....and then again in a rematch.
Yeah, i'd take Ortiz' attributes to enable him to take the win if i was pushed, he's definitely more proven but you can see plain as day that Mosley will be one of his toughest fights at 135. Ortiz is going to be able to offset all that action Mosley brings much more so than anyone else Mosley was ever in the ring with at 135 though, i do think Carlos would take it clear on the cards. That jab and his footwork could be a problem for Shane to get goin as much as he'd like to.
Mosley has a bad habit of fighting his opponents fight. Someone who knows how to fight as well as Ortiz should be able to win on points. Comfortably i would think...
Mosley's unhuman speed power size combo only tended to look as such against faded junior lightweights and no hopers. Even guys with decent but thoroughly unspectactular talent like holiday and at Welter, rivera could make him look "human" in his prime. Ortiz was very big and powerful at 135 and 140, he should be able to hold his own comfortably physically, especially after the early rounds, while letting his superior technique and ring intelligence take him to a clear decision in a good entertaining fight.
The Jury seems to be rendering a fairly unanimous verdict on this case - and i see no reason to go against the Grain, - Over 15 rounds i would take ring General Carlos's Timing to trump Shane's Speed, Carlos had a talent for controlling the pace of a fight and manoeuvring opponents., they say Speed Kills, But if you can Anticipate it - it can be countered. Ortiz's ring orientation skills were second to none. But it would probably be a close run thing, but think Carlos creates clear daylight after the 12th - being new territory for Shane.
True, I agree.....and because that I would pick Ortiz by decision (but close in my opinion) mainly because he had better footwork, jab, and was a better ring general........had a great left hook too.....So, I agree with the posts ! Thanks.....
I would take Ortiz. Although mosley at the higher weights Mosley struggled with technical boxers like forrest, wright and floyd. I think Ortiz out boxes him. Also I have to question when Mosley started taking steroids and if his lightweight performances are inflated because of the steroids.
