Pls don't open your moth before knowing things again. Right after the supersix was announced Yvon Michel who i think was working with Interbox back then said that he is sad that Bute wasn't invited to participate if he was they would accepted.
What concept? Explain yourself, because you haven't yet clarified this post: "If I ask you about a party I am intenting on holdig but you say you are not interested in attending then I won't send you an invitation." Can't wait to hear what this 'concept' (sounds very factual) is about, since you don't make any sense as it stands. I'm 25. I'm sure that's extremely relevant here. :rofl Avoiding questions is way better, isn't it? :yep
Bute or Interbox never said they are not interested in supersix. atsch Like I said above I read it at B.Scene an immediate sresponse of a Rumor about Bute not agreeing with the round robin format of the tournament saying that It's not true and Bute would have happily accepted the invitation.
Unfortunately you gives maybies as others gives quotes. So your maybies are very weak in a debate. You even dont have any facts, the sole argument that you have is that you "feel that he has left himself open to accusations". This is hardly any proof or facts that Bute was invited in the S6. This is only proof that you wish to find any reason to be able to explain your odd point of view of Bute. From what can you say such statement? From the fact that most (if not all) of the fighters that have a name are in the super 6? And so he have to face Brinkley. So again hard to see any proof of any cheery picking. If your talking about the first Andrade fight. He was a top 5 at the time. If your talking about the second Andrade fight, he decide to face him again and leave no doubt about it. Everyone (Bute's fans or haters wanted that fight). And then the super 6 came to be. Again he did what he had to do and so he it's not the act of cheery picking from his part. Or is it the fact that he is fighting in Montréal? Even Dawson and Shaw after the Pascal fight (and their moaning) decide now to make the figth in Québec. The purse bid in the Andrade II fight was won by GBP and still they made the fight in Québec. You know exactly why, its because all these people wants to make money and so they go where the money his. Simple as that. So it is hard again to go against Bute. So again, do you have any "facts" about Bute and that he was invited in the S6 and that he is a "cherrypicking fighter"?
The better would be the semi play off system, 8 top guys fighting 2 random opponents from them, and the best 4 going to the next level, then next tour with two best fighting last final fight. So there is 8 guys involved and problem solved after 5 fights and there should be strict timeline of events with fights every 4 months so the whole affair would last no longer than 1.5 years.
I believe it had something to do with which promoters were chosen to bring in fighters. Bute's promoter, InterBox, apparently wasn't one of them. Found this in an interview on 15rounds dot com, in an interview with Anson Wainwright . Anson Wainwright - Much has been said on the Super 6. Your obviously a glaring omission from the tournament. What can you tell us from your point of view why you werent involved was? Lucian Bute - Its out of my control. To be not involved in the Super six give me the chance to be with HBO. They came for my last 2 fights and Im very happy with that. I will fight the winner of the tournament to reign on my division! Anson Wainwright - The second round of fights has just taken place, what are your thoughts on how it has gone so far? How do you see the tournament panning out? Lucian Bute - Every fight was interesting since the beginning. I think Andre Ward will defeat Dirrell and win the tournament. Anson Wainwright - Can you tell us about your team and handlers. Who is your manager, trainer & promoter? Also what gym do you regularly use ahead of a fight? Lucian Bute - During my training camp I go to Miami. I love this place, there a very nice gym (Thump GYM). I go there with my coach Stephan Larouche and Andre Kulesza, responsible for my physical condition. Im with them since the beginning and we have a very nice relationship. My promoter is InterBox who also promote Adrian Diaconu and former World Champion Leonard Dorin and Eric Lucas. Both are retired.
I'm sorry, but there's a lot of facts against you. I see that you are not trusting these fights, but you have nothing more to offer than speculations. Bute's team said he wasn't invited. Showtime said he wasn't invited. End of story. I probably won't watch the Magee fight, but I understand that there's no good opponents available until the end of the super 6. Stieglitz is hiding with his belt, Kessler is injured, Pavlik is in rehab and Green sucks more than the likes of Miranda and Magee. They should have not invited Johnson, disqualified Abraham after his second lost and went to the final already.
i am sure Ward is doing as well as anyone, he seems to have the best negotiated deal - he fought every fight at home, got a bye to the semi final after Dirrell ran away and only really fought one of the orignal super 6.
I think it is important to remember that the Super Six did not originate with Showtime. It was the brain child of Kalle Sauerland who sold his concept to Showtime. Sauerland made deals with the European fighters BEFORE they selected the North American fighters. Sauerland visited New York under the pretense of negotiating a Pavlik/Abraham fight. He met with Bob Arum, made a demand for an unconditional $2 million dollar guarantee for Abraham, and then just a few days later Sauerland/Showtime announced the Super Six. The original six were: Andre Dirrell: Best win Victor Oganov. Zuniga, who was a former Pavlik victim, knocked Oganov out long before Dirrell got to him. Andre Ward: Best win a 12 round stinkfest with a post-pavlik Miranda. Carl Froch: Best win two time Pavlik victim Jermain Taylor. Arthur Abraham: Best win Edison Miranda. Jermain Taylor: Lost 3 of his 4 previous fights, two by brutal KO. Mikkell Kessler: Very good fighter with only one loss and a fairly solid resume'. Regardless of anything that happened after the S6 started, it is obvious that both the undefeated IBF titlist Lucian Bute, and then undisputed middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik, were far more deserving than at least 3 of the fighters that got invited. Ken Hershman of Showtime Sports claimed they did not invite Bute or Pavlik because including them would cost to much. How did he know that when they never negotiated with either fighter? Look at the fighters on the orginal list. Sauerland's plan back fired, but it's obvious that he set this up to showcase his two fighters in front of an American audience. He did not want anyone in the tourney who might beat one of his boys. Sauerland is a scumbag, and I'm glad his plan backfired.
I never saw any article or video stating that Bute and Pavlik were too expensive. Can you direct me to one please, it would be interesting.
If you had made it with a knock-out format, you wouldn't have gotten the yank fighters to sign. The 3 fight guarantee was paramount in making the supersix.
I pretty much agree. I think would add that another reason for excluding deserving fighters Bute and Pavlik also had to do with the number of promotors. As it turned out you had: Sauerland: Kessler, Abraham Goosen: Ward Shaw: Dirrell Hennesy: Froch DiBella: Taylor and sub Green. Maybe those guys had a better working relationship than if you added Arum and Interbox? Of course that working relationship still was fairly rocky but that goes with such a tournament territory I guess. Add also that the tournament was billed as boxings Ryder Cup pinning the best euros with the best yanks. Who should Pavlik and Bute have replaced? Not any Sauerland fighter as this was Kalle's idea.
Are you refering to the young guns. I was thinking the same that some would not accepted but... Kessler had eaten bums because of that manager of his and he was getting close to the end of his career , 3 fights/1 year tournament could've been better for him then 5 fights/2 years tournament. Froch is bold , he a crazy mofo thinking he can beat all, not young either probably would have accepted to.Abraham could't make the middleweight not many fights for him on the outside if 8 mens would've been in the tourney. Taylor was having a last shot, you don't really turn that down, Ward and Dirrell were prospects I guess here is the question , because they cant still rise them a little slower fighting Miranda,Green,Bika,Stieglitz,Andrade,Brinkley,Magee etc. , the tournament only lasting 1 year / 3 fights.
