Lee will be World champ by the end of the year by beating the fabulous Sergio Martinez. I will be back in december and you can make a thread then about how foolish or great my call was...
No. You said 'he will win a world title before he retires'. I said, going on what we've seen so far he's 'woefully average'. How does me going on what I've seen and you making a bold prediction based on bias mean I have a 'typical ESB attitude'. Lee just isn't very good. If you'd like to tell me what stylistic attributes he posseses that mark him out as a future title holder, I'm all ears.
Wow. That is a bold prediction. Any stylistic analysis as to how he can beat Martinez? Or just blinded by bias? Pirog would hammer Lee inside three of four rounds IMO. Sturm would be Lees best bet to win a strap IMO, and even then I wouldn't favour him.
Ya gotta say though that Lee has flattered to deceive. The night he fought in Germany on the Klitschko undercard a couple of years ago put doubts in my head as to ability to reach the top. He needs to make a big statement and and no better fight to do it in than against Duddy. Given Duddy's chin it a strong bet the fight goes the distance. I won't be surprised if Lee can't elevate himself above what looks on paper like a scrappy fight.
you dont win a silver medal at the world u-18s or box in the olympics and have hof trainer manny steward begging you to sign for him by being completley average you fool
You said him winning an ABC title means **** all ergo, beating Sturm or Pirog means **** all. Neither are the best MW in the world but you would have to be better than woefully average to beat them. That's my point. I think Lee has a very awkward style and the fact he fights southpaw makes it even more difficult for opponents to figure out a way past his jab. He utilises his size and reach advantages excellently. He has very good power and has a varied arsenal of accurate punches. He is also very nimble on his feet. He's chin seems to be fine also. He has poor stamina so the championship rounds will be issues for him but there is always the possibility of him getting the job done before then. My other criticism of him is his ability to tie up on the inside. But Tommy Hearns couldn't do that either and he didn't do all that bad for himself. I'm not saying Lee will be an ATG, but I think he'll be better than woefully average and he'll beat some good boxers before he hangs up his glioves.
Okay, fool; what part of me saying I get my opinion from what we've seen of him so far, i.e his pro fights, is relevant to the above? Elvis; good points. I just don't think he's the sum of his parts. I agree with everyone here that he will batter Duddy though.
Its the attitude of people like you that drag this forum down , by saying the likes of Lee is completley average .Just out of intrest how do you rate Darren Barker ?
He'll go no farther than Lee. It's the attitude of the people like you that drag this forum down, by saying the likes of Lee is better than average. Door swings both ways mate:good
this fight is a good chance for lee. he will be able to put punches together because duddy will take a lot because he can. on hbo, if he looks good and knocks out duddy in 6/7 he could be in with a chance of being martinez's next opponent. thats a different kettle of fish however but hopefully he will get a nice pay day
Fun you should say that because he would absolutely school EVER British fighter at his weight I'll start baking Humble Pies - going to need a lot of them
