However, it raises the question as to why certain people had the authority to put it on there on the first place.

Now on this sticky thread deal, the thread had ran its course. Zakman had his fun,he had bumped it but no more biters were to be had. I don't think it deserved to be deleted. It just had to go away by natural causes and it had. So getting it made to a sticky was annoying and a poor choice by someone imo.
Part of the reason folks come over to the Brit forum, is because they prefer it to the General. There are plenty of Brits who prefer the General and thats fine too. You offer different forums so people have the choice to where they would like to go. The Brit forum has its own unique mix of humor and seriousness and part of any uproar is because the posters want to keep its identity rather than see it morph into what the General is. As you say, some may be a bit too overprotective but I don't think getting the proper balance is pie in the sky.

I don't think this section has anything in common with general. Just look at the front page of the UK section at this moment, it's clean as ****. Then look at general, it's a mess. Trolls and aliases are a result of this forum getting bigger. We ban a few, and a few new ones join.

I say it again, if there are people who obviously troll (bar this thread, we already know) please report them instead of just complaining how bad things are. Because that's what most here do, complain yet never report. How am I supposed to help out (which I do want to) if I don't know what's going on? I have limited time, I don't read everything.

Classic is the same, I made a few respected posters the offer that all they had to do to get rid of trolls, is send me a PM with their names. I will check their posts, and hand out a ban if needed. I do not always agree on what is a troll though, sometimes I just find them funny. But starting a thread named "why did you stupid ****ing mods move my thread" for example is less effective than simply sending one of us a PM.

 

I sent one of the mods a PM about this thread... which resulted in my avatar being changed. :roll:

Fair enough RDJ, I help moderate a busy forum and have a full time job so I don't have unrealistic expectations on what the "response time" is going to be when a mods action is required.

TBH if I'm gulity of anything its not reporting things but thats probably because, as I say, we've got into the habit of trying to pull up most the trolls etc ourselves...

Yeah well. It got very personal, both ways, for a while and things got heated. Again I don't think putting up that avatar was very "correct" as it conflicted with our own rules, and that's why I got rid of it

Fair enough mate. I personally don't feel it's at risk of becoming like general, but if you see any of the general trolls crossing over please rat them out so I can boot them if needed. Without that I will never notice them.

I caught a ban because "its not up for discussion" a few months back. (alas poor Losfer)

Maybe you should keep this thread as a sticky and it can be the mod question thread

I've always been open about it, other mods don't feel like having the discussion in public. Most of the times these public threads aren't very friendly nor constructive so I can't really blame them. I never delete threads that question my decisions because I simply don't care
