I can give you all the challengers (i think)

Some are up for debate as "Scousers"

    Tarleton
    Roderick
    Rudkin
    Conteh
    Hoko
    Wenton

The above are definites and below might have some claim

Shea Neary, Robin Reid, Hogan Bassey, Dick Tiger, Peter Kane

    Have i missed anyone?

When I was going over the question I though "challengers" would have been better. Theres a Roderick fight poster up in my local, the fighters discriptions are really quaint "Game kid who gives his all" and all that!!

From what ive read of the Roderick Armstrong fight it seems to have been well contested but was a close but clear win for Armstrong there is some footage on youtube.

Apparently Roderick was always bitter about it until his death and considered it a robbery

WBU is tenuous though Neary did hold the title when it looked like it might become something and fought decent opposition but i dont think they can be put n the same pedestal as Conteh or even Hoko

yeah culshaw had wbu and wbf, gary ryder won wbf, dont think wbf and wbu can class as genuine world titles (hence ryder winning wbf in tenth fight)

    genuine

    conteh
    paul hoko

neary could have won higher belt than wbu imo altho lw was strong divison then but he was in that class

fights like lawton (lost 3 out of lost 4) matthews (lost 5 out of last 10) for the wbu belt prooves this as neither are world class or top 5 in britain especcially lawton losing his last 2 i understand the fighters taking it as it can help get them in line for a domestic title shot but it doesent make sense to win "world title" so you can challenge for "british title" no logic but hope derry wins imo derry with confidence boxes his head off as he would have last time maybe prizefighter has given him that confidence as

plus steven smith will be the next scouse genuine world champ
