That's sad to hear. Brewster was one hell of a warrior inside the ring.
    Thanks champ!

I assume Brewster doesn't have some sort of proof for the allegation that Helenius loaded his gloves.

But if we just assume for the moment that Brewster is right and team Helenius refused gloves inspection indeed. Put yourself in Brewsters shoes, how would you have reacted in that moment?

These are the circumstances: You have an already damaged eye and need to be very carefull or else you'll go blind, in less than an hour the bout will be televised live on national TV (in Germany), and you suspect your opponent might be loading his gloves. Would you enter the ring and take the risk? Or would you threaten to call off the fight at short notice? Would it be even a realistic option to call the fight off? What would be the ramifications?

All the best to Lamon. His fights with Etienne, Liakovich, Wlad, krasniqu, were wars.

People won't admit to it, but wlad beat that eye problem into him in the first fight

Saying this, he had a great chin, him quiting on the stool agaisnt wlad should bring no shame. He was world class contender, an the fact he fought in wlad era, should not let people take away from this man, he had skills. an every thing wlad faces gets labeled a tomato can, i just smile, cause no doubt brewster would be a top ten in any era

Im a huge Brewster fan and always have been, but the guy had less than championship quality skill level. He went life and death with Luan Krasniqi, and was losing til he caught Krasniqi in the 9th with a huge hook out of nowhere. He also went life and death with Meehan who appeared to have him seriously hurt in the fight. Not to mention his losses to Lyakhovich, Eitienne, and Shufford.

Lamon would be nothing without his heart, his chin was good, but he was hurt often against lesser oppenents. He did have a good right and left hook, but I wouldn't call it Wlad power either. He won one big match against Wlad back in 04, his other wins are not all that great. Other than him blitzing a mentally weak golota early in a fight. Something other fighters have found success doing it before and after Brewster.

Brewster would not be a top 10 contender in any era, he had decent skills, good power, and a huge heart. Nothing more, nothing less.

Brewster needs to stop with the claims that Helenius' gloves were loaded. He already knew his retina was at risk to get really screwed up, but he chose to fight anyway.

I liked his aggressive brawling style.

I also worried about his health.

Too bad, hope he can get that eye fixed.

This guy was actually a decent champ when he had a belt, and his fights were entertaining. He crushed a still good Golota, and looked Tyson-esque in that knockout. Definately a fan of his exciting style.

Sad news to hear, especially the eye injury. I hope he made enough that he can sit back comfortably and enjoy his retirement.
