very true mate, rjj is top drawer imo he maybe talks a little quick sometimes but as you say he is very insightfull and puts it over in a manner that most wouldnt understand....

Our pundits are **** that much is clear compared to the Atlas's of this world. I'm struggling to find one I genuinely think is incisive and fun to listen to. Woodhall for example knows what he's talking about but I don't think he conveys things particularly intuitively. Johnny Nelson talks in riddles. Glen McCrory is a bit thick, quite frankly. It says it all when Jim Watt is probably the best of the mainstream pundits. Carl Froch might be good but you can't really say the odd appearance makes him worthy of the title pundit.

 

Froch is too opinionated for the likes of Sky though...... they prefer people that will just sit and be quiet and say ''it's gonna be a great fighter..... erm, I don't know who is gonna win'' like McCrory does.

Seriously he did over do it a little in that fight, but watching Manny Pacquiao do his thing must be awe-inspiring and very jaw dropping, some of the things he was doing in that fight were very special. Everyone goes on about Clottey's poor effort, but Manny was just too overwhelming and put on a boxing exhibition against a guy he couldn’t stop, even though he tried very hard to do so. He even IMHO took shots purposely to try and encourage Clottey to open up and lull him in. This is the type of phenom we're witnessing and imagine being in Lampley's position, seeing this live only a few feet away. I don't blame him for getting his Bang Bang on, LOL!

Pacquiao was doing subtle things that were not being appreciated in the hysteria of him dominating a seemingly inferior opponent. He was punching and stepping around when Clottey decided to step forward and occassionally open up, when Jushua eventually tried to punch back, Manny wasn't in the spot he last saw him and Clottey then had to reset. It was really a very good performance on Pacquiao's part, against a guy who has never lost a fight by more than 2 or 3 points.

Now Slip, it was another special Pac performance no doubt, but a commentator should try and improve or at the very least not detract from what the viewers are watching.
When he started his "banging" shivers went down my spine and not in a good way!:barf. I actually rewound it as I was wondering if I had just imagined it (surely I am not that drunk I thought!)
If there is a worst piece of commentating in the history of the sport, I haven't viewed it. Him saying "bang" when he landed was on a par with the glass shattering you hear when those idiot chin-checker from the General make their stupid videos. Surely I can expect a bit more from an HBO PPV than what Zakman uploads on youtube!
