I've heard a lot of people talk about heavyweight fighters being in the "top 20 ATGs" or even the "top 50 ATGs". Exactly how far down the list can you be before you stop being an ATG, and start being just a very good fighter? After all, you could claim that Audley Harrison is one of the top 100 ATGs! For me, anyone outside the top 10 can't claim to be one of the world's all time greatest heavyweights. What about you?
Most people generally go to top 50 for an established division. I used to have all my lists up to date and saved. But, I upgraded to win7 and it erased all my lovely boxing material. Getting to 50 as a HW, LHW, Middle, Welter, Light is quite easy. In less established divisions like SMW a top 30 might be more doable.
My criteria is all time top 100. Theres been soooooooooo many fighters and if you are on that list then you desevere big time props as an atg.
So you are making a top 100 atg p4p list? Post it up when you are done. I always stay within divisions
as many or as few as you want. after all, it's just your personal opinion & it doesn't really mean anything to anyone except you anyway.
I did a rough draft and posted it on the classic like a year and a half ago. But it takes alot of time and i always change my mind after im done. But i got a good idea of where abouts id but them like 30-40 or 15-20. Or 90 to 100.
You dont do justice by stopping at top 10 for long established divisions such as heavy, lighy heavy, middle, welter and lightweight.
I think there's an argument for top 20 but I like to keep the term ATG for the best of the best. Personally I don't rate Holyfield as high as some but I also give him props for his Cruiserweight career which obviously doesnt count towards his heavyweight resume. For me, he's just an ATG fighter regardless of weight. Now you're talking P4P!
That has a lot to do with him starting out at cruiser ,dominating there and jumping up and fighting and beating most of the best heavyweights in and era when they are really SUPER heavys.... By the way I have Holyfield 6th o 7th on my All time HW list and 20 -25 pfp list.
