Anyone know what he's donig? Is he having a break? Any opposition lined up for him? Seems to have gone silent since getting humbled by Katsidis!
Can he ever be a world class fighter?

at lightweight? i doubt it, there are too many good fighters around

at super feather maybe, given how that division isnt all that deep.

Has a fight with RIcky Burns been raised as a possibility?

I heard him on the Main Event show podcast from yesterday, hes back in March. I think he could do well this year if he sticks to his training

thing is with kev he actualy has a lot in his armoury. he's quick, hard hitting and has good skill. that ko from kats was down to bad training and bad game plan. you could see him out box him in the second. i was suprised by his lack of chin in that fight though. maybe that will cause him problems at lightweght.

Yeah - except that Katsidis is just better than him and Mitchell is pretty limited. Wait, don't tell me - he's actually world-class because he beat Prescott!

I agree Kats is the better fighter, but what is Mitchell bad at exactly? He is quick (not the quickest), hits hard (not the hardest), puts punches together well, has relatively good footwork.

From where I was sitting, Mitchell was tagged hard in the 1st against Kats, but came back well in the second and actually looked the better of the two in that round, boxing Kats.

Yes he got stopped. Would that happen with correct training? It's impossible to answer. But 1 things for sure, Kevin wasn't at the races that night, and Kats punished him. If he had his head right, we may have had a different outcome.

Good fighter is Mitchell. Will he be a world champ, who knows. Hopefuly he comes back with all guns blazing and gets people thinking 'did he have an off night' rather than 'he is a limited fighter'.

Watching the fight the other day again. Mitchell didnt do himself any favours not saying he could have won but i think he could have definitely lasted much longer and been more competetive had he taken a knee and potshotted more to try and ride out the storm.

ultimately though i dont think he had the dig or the composure to be able to keep Katsidis off him.

Fail to prepare. Prepare to fail. Until he trains properly who cares

Felt let down by Mitchell's performance in that Katsidis fight, lost a few pence too. Then I heard how he hadn't prepared properly and I washed my hands of the fella. Bit knee jerk at the time, I hope he can get his career back on track, but I don't see him winning any world titles down the line.

I must admit, I went off Kevin Mitchell a bit when it was revealed that he didn't train as well as he should have done. There are loads of people out there who would kill to fight for a World Title and not training properly, whatever the excuse, shows not only a lack of self-respect, but also a lack of respect for your fans and ticket buyers.

Having said that, he takes the time to post on here, always seems like a stand-up type and (before the Kats fight) seemed dedicated to his boxing. I hope he gets another chance because through going to loads of Warren fights, he is probably the boxer I have seen live the most!

If he gets another chance, I just hope he gives it all preparation wise. There's no shame in saying "I wasn't good enough" there is shame in saying "I could have been good enough if I'd trained properly".
