Jerry Quarry would have smashed both klit brothers!

When did we ever see him face someone as tall as them? Thats what they have on the rest of the division- height and the know how to use if efficiently. I think he probably would beat them but they could just as easily keep him at the end of the jab and drop the right. He had enough passion and fire to rush them (which is what someone should do- PLEASE) but I don't know how that would work against Vitali. But interesting thought. I think he is the greatest heavyweight to never win a belt.

 

Quarry was tough as nails and talented and could take a good shot.Klits height and reach is a problem though.

If things didn't go Jerrys way early, he would give up on himself.

One tough guy though, and came along at the wrong time.

Quarry could never beat the best guys of any era, just didn't have the tools and consistency. Still, he would be a top 3 today and probably fight both brothers...several times maybe and give them both hell before getting cut up and stopped after gassing.

 

Ten F'ing years after Machen was blown away by Johansson he beat Quarry hands down, Quarry would be a joke today........

I'll agree that if Quarry caught Wlad, it would be all over like Earnie Shavers. But even on his best day, he'd lost a bloody-filled split decision to Vitali.

Pound for pound, Jerry Quarry is probably a better fighter than both Klitschko's, but unfortunately, p4p doesnt' mean much when you're in the same ring. Quarry did not have the physical tools to stand up to either of those guys, and in all honesty, even lost at times to fighters who were close to his size, such as Chuvalo, Machen, and Ellis. Muhammad Ali, in his first fight back after a 3 year leave of abscence, cut him up in only 3 rounds. I love Jerry but this is a mismatch.

 

I'm not sure I understood. Wasn't Jerry Quarry an heavyweight? If so, if you think both Klitschko are better heavyweights that him, how can you conclude that p4p Quarry is better than them?!
P4p means you classify boxers regardless their weight division and not their weight. If A (400 pounds) is the consensus number 1 heavyweight while B (205 pound) is number 2 (and he chooses to stay at heavy his entire career) then A is the better fighter and p4p fighter of the two, provided they were both heavyweight and B has no legacy elsewhere.
