... in terms of technique and ring generalship.

For me it's McCallum in the rematch with Toney. Absolutely masterful and he should have won.

    Wilfredo Gomez vs Zarate
    Roberto Duran vs Carlos Palomino
    Luis Rodriguez vs Giambra

Salvador Sanchez vs Danny 'Little Red' Lopez 'I'

Salvador came with a Doctor in his corner, checking his pulse between rounds.
Just a perfect boxing exhibition,,,,,,,'skill and effectiveness over strength and power'

I wouldn't have those top two. Too poor opposition. If Louis looked liked that against Walcott or Charles it would certainly have qualified, though, to say the least.

I certainly agree that McCallum got the short end of the stick in that one.

Really hard, this one. Possibly Roberto Duran,in the third Esteban De Jesus fight. Roberto really was THE complete fighter,in that performance.

    Andy Price vs. Carlos Palomino
    Andy Price vs. Pipino Cuevas

Both times, Andy knew he had to stay away from brutal left hooks, and he did.
Andy Price was really a brilliant tactical fighter.

 What the **** has that do with anything?

Baer's technique was horrible, worse than Foreman's. Looking good against an unskilled opponent is easier than against a skilled one. Which is why Louis looked far better against Baer than against Farr, Conn, Walcott etc.

I also like Sanchez - Lopez II. Danny knew the second time around the ability of Sanchez and came out highly motivated and the fight was aslo conducted in a very small ring.

    couple more:

    Sanchez-Gomez
    Curry - Starling II
    Chavez- Rosario
    Greg Page - Coetzee
    Eusebio Pedroza - Patrick Ford

McCallum is in there with a very, very skillful opponent who has all physical advantages over him, still he doesn't put a foot wrong.

There are extremely few such cases.

You brought this up, calling Baer "poor opposition".
