If 'the young mohawk kid' is the one Im thinking of, he was at the Qld HoF last year seeing Fred get Inducted, and he had the sexiest Dutch-Indo gal I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. The son of my avatars namesake and I were perving helplessly at this glamour for the entire afternoon.

He's got the sheila of all sheila's.

 

Sounding like the same guy Bobby - early to mid 20's probably and wiry rather than solid.

They made a point in the show about how he could pull the shielas, and it makes sense he'd make the best one he could find a keeper.

 

The deal always used to be you got paid if you won - think that's a good part of the reason it's so hard to get the nod at the end of your bout.

I missedit atsch in '93 i think it was, I went to the Birdsville races and ended up fighting in Brophy's tent, a great experience.

 

I felt sorry for that young girl boxer, I don't know if the car accident gave her brain damage or whether she's a little simple anyway. She's no more than 45kgs didn't like seeing her in the ring, especially considering she wasn't much good.

I noticed Mohawk giving her a few tips in the practice ring, probably both rings come to think of it

Hope she stuck around to keep training, you could tell she really loved it.

No idea!

Just estimating their total gate takings:

They said it was $25 per head to get in, and it looked like they got a few hundered in for each show, in fact, I think I heard them say up to 700 for a show.

so a bad night might be 200 x $25 = a $5,000 gate.
and a great night might be 700 x $25 = a $17,500 gate.

obviously from that they have to take out:
- their own fighter's wages.
- travel & petrol costs.
- food etc.
- rent for the location.
- other overheads.

But what they give someone who beats one of their boys?

It might have been '94. I fought a guy called Mandingo, he'd knocked out every one he fought at the races that year, was supposed to be undefeated and apparently held the record for the worlds quickest knockout at the time and appeared in an article in Penthouse. I don't know how true all of this was. he hit me with two glancing blows in the whole three rounds, and every time I hit him with a body shot I got a point taken off by Broph for low blows. Needless to say I lost on points after receiving about a dozen or so point deductions. It was all good fun and I didn't pay for another drink that night.
