Good fight, its not the most stacked division so Burns should try and unify. I think he beats Fana and they can build up a bout with Uchiyama for 2012

Fana's promoter has told Fwank to make him an offer.

Really hope we see this in 2011.

With Japan not recognising either the WBO or IBF, Burns is pretty unfortunate (or fortunate, if you look at it a different way) that, if he were to beat Fana, then he has nothing that would interest Uchiyama.

But beating Fana is not a done deal - tough fight for Burns.

One of Ricky Burns' New Year resolutions is to become Scotland's first ever unified world champion.
The 27-year-old lifted the WBO World Super-Featherweight title, defeating Roman Martinez in a thriller last year.

But now Burns has set himself a new target for the new year - to add another belt to his WBO crown.

Among his targets are IBF World champion and world number one Mzonke Fana.

"When I told people that I would be a world champion by the end of 2010, I got a few funny looks," said Burns.

"Not many people thought that I would beat Roman Martinez, but the doubters just spurred me on.

"I took my boxing to another level in 2010, but having scaled the mountain, I want to stay there.

"Scotland has had some great world champions down the years like Ken Buchanan and Jim Watt and more recently Alex Arthur and Scott Harrison, but we've never had one who has held two world titles at the same time and I want to be the first.

The Coatbridge star had a good rest over Christmas after busy year in stop-start training for the Martinez fight and then his first defence against Andreas Evensen.

Burns' Promoter Frank Warren will shortly be announcing details of his second title defence.

"I've recharged my batteries, pigged out over Christmas and now I can't wait to get back in the gym for serious training and start preparing for my next title defence.

"I've asked my promoter Frank Warren to look into a unification fight later this year, and he has assured me that he's working hard to deliver one for me.

"Last year I followed Martinez very carefully, and I'll be doing the same with Mzonke Fana in 2011.

"He looks like the man to beat at the moment, and he's the fighter that I want.

"I took on the best in the world when I beat Martinez, and I'll do the same with Fana."
