If a fight has being ordered by a sanctioning body or in this case a governing body (the British Boxing Board of Control), both sides get a period of time to come to an agreement. If they fail to reach an agreement a purse bid is ordered.

Basically it's a bit like an auction but one where you only get a chance to make one bid and you don't know what anyone else is bidding. So whoever wishes to promote the fight submits their offer to the Board.

The highest bidder gets to promote the fight and the board determines the split of the purse. That is how the purse will be distributed between the two fighters percentage wise.

    Hope that makes sense :good

Almost led me straight back here...

Thank you, it makes sense. So for this fight, what would a realistic winning bid for a DeGale vs Groves fight?

this is the mandatory fight for the british title.but seems like degale wants to fight a recovering alcoholic.

i think degale has skills, put paws and slaps his punches, and isnt as slick as he looks vs poor opponents.

groves can get careless.but he can also stick to a game plan.

he has power, hes sparred with froch and haye!.
