At the end of the day we are all boxing fans. We all want to see Wlad fight Haye. We can’t be sure who has been avoiding the fight. We cannot even be sure if they are both avoiding each other. If we want to see the fight we have to stop buying into all the bull****. The alphabet belts are absolutely bull****, especially the WBA. Wlad-Haye is a fight between the man generally recognised as the #1 heavyweight versus his man generally recognised as his #1 challenger. It doesn’t need title belts to hype it up. It’s a legit HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP fight. To be fair to Haye, Wlad might as well give up his belts too and they can just fight for the Ring Title. Haye and Wlad are hiding behind these bull**** sanctioning bodies. Surely all boxing fans who want to see the fight don’t give a **** about the WBA or the WBO? Who cares what the WBA or the WBO say? We know a heavyweight title fight when we see one. Let’s get it on.
Didn't a fight with Valuev come with giving his promoter options on them afterward? Didn't Haye have to give into some sort of stipulations to get the fight? I highly doubt Wlad was afraid to fight a guy ancient Holyfield was able run so close (arguably beat)
Yes - I agree with the sentiment of the thread - and am aware of this for sometime. When Haye oulled out of fighting - Wlad in 2009 and then Vitali in 2009 also - and effectively turned down the oppurnity of fighting for IBF / WBO / Linear /Ring Titles and WBC title................. He turned down the direction of the bogus World Heavyweight title merry go around - that had been sectioned off away from the real heavyweight title action. The WBA title - had become a meery go around for the fighters - who could never really rule the divsion - but had created their own rivarlies - sectioned off from the real heavyweight action. Valuev Ruiz Chagev Holyfield All them above guys - fought each other - sometimes - several times - to win and lose the WBA belt against each other None of them tried to take on the real champions of the divison - Vitlai or Wlad - But like I say they were happy to fight each other several times over. Haye joined this merry go around - and gastecrashed the party - and stole the WBA belt - from Valuev - but he stayed on the merry go around - and fought the same old recycled John Ruiz - Chagev - for the time being - was frozen out of the WBA merry go around - so he finally ventured to new pastures - and mixed it with the real top boy - and got a hammering. Haye then disgracefully - even lowered the standards of the WBA merry go around - when he introducved Audley Harriosn into the mix. Haye now having already fought two -of the WBA "regulars" in Valuev and Ruiz - will now take on Chagev - who has rejoined the merry go around -
They didn't strip him for fighting Klitschko. The stripped him for failing to fight Valuev by turning up unfit for the match. The BBBoC have already said a fighter with hepatitis B wouldn't be licensed to fight in the UK because it presents a danger in a blood sport! Says a lot about how slack German regulations are when the K2 army comes to town. Your other point's just wrong. Chagaev won the title in April 2007. In between he fought two journeymen as tune-ups. He fought Wladimir in June 2009, after failing the blood test for the Valuev fight. My arithmetic isn't the greatest, but that works out as... two years and two months between those points. And the Valuev fight was scheduled a month before or something. So, at best it was 25 months.
The brothers generate more money than Valuev, so there would be no force behind that. Haye did, but Haye was a challenger outright. Wlad and Vitali were reigning champions. As far as I know, other than the recent attempt by Vitali, neither brother ever seriously negotiated a unification with Valuev.
agree we want to see the fight but the Klitskcos are as much at fault for it not happening as anyone.
Valuev only held the title for about yr before Haye won it tho so when was this unification meant to be made exactly?? Valuev also fought Holyfield who was his mandatory in-between Vitali had come back in this spell winning the WBC and tried to make a fight with Valuev, offering him 2.5 million dollars, so its clear he's not scared of him. As much as I enjoy your posts and writing style, I seriously think you are overly biased when commenting on anything remotely to do with Haye or Hayemaker promotions
His first title defense was Owen "What the Heck" Beck. A guy only one fight removed from losing to Ray Austin. I forget now, was Valuev expected to beat Chagaev easily?
Thanks for the compliment - truthfully though, I think too many excuses are made for Wlad and Vitali over this. Haye carries a huge portion of the blame, no doubt, but this time Wlad cancelled the fight. My point about Valuev is that the brothers wouldn't go near him because they couldn't agree business terms that would be acceptable to them. I totally support that (as I do for Haye - a man's got to get paid fairly), but he was a title holder and the brothers made no real effort to get a fight with him. Now, Boente claims that the WBA would be willing to ignore a mandatory if it allowed a unification, so there was no reason to not pursue that fight and unify the belts. Except that the money and the terms weren't what they wanted. And that's ok, actually. I understand, but it's a bit rich to criticise Haye for doing the exact same thing as the brothers are. That doesn't excuse Haye for all his behaviour, but if I was him, and I'd agreed to everything and the one thing I didn't agree on (quite fairly) sent Wlad scurrying - well, I'd feel pretty blameless too. It's one rule for the brothers and a different one for Haye.
There's no doubt Wlad shouldve fought Haye this time...he's made video's calling him out, its taking the **** and Wlad's fans saying Haye deserves to be messed around holds no weight with me, its ridiculous there's no fight. As for Valuev, we'll have to agree to disagree, but im pretty confident in saying that the fight was not made due to injuries, title fights, timing basically, as well as Kings reluctance. No way would either bro be scared of fighting Valuev...think about it, how could Valuev actually win??? Just a big lump with next to zero power.
I lost respect for Haye when he went down the WBA path. The WBA HW going ons have been a complete joke for the past 10+ years. The same old merry go round of fighters and Haye doesnt even beat the champion Chagaev...Wlad does! Then he signs a fight with Fraudley and loses all credibility.
