If Kessler gets well I suppose a fight with Bute would be nearly as attractive as a fight with the s6 winner.

I don't contribute the loss to Ward to his opposition. My excuse would be the preparation which consisted of less than 2 weeks of sparring with impaired vision. And of course Ward fought a great fight along with some help from the referee and BALCO founder Victor Conte.

Lack of preparation also includes taking on legitimate opposition over an extended period of time (two years). Kessler lost a step or two. But, yes, Ward and the referee did a good job of capitalizing on Kessler's lack of preparation.

Taking a two week promotional tour of Denmark 5 weeks before Ward was stupid and testament to him underestimating Ward (like most of us did to be fair).

Assuming one of them gets healthy, I'd be surprised if he doesn't fight either Dirrell or Kessler before his three-fight Showtime deal is done.

And if Glen Johnson loses to Froch, I'd be willing to bet that's his second fight. Johnson isn't one to take an easy fight in between just because he lost, and he's not going to avoid fighting someone just because they're friends and sparring partners.

If Bute's opposition is taxidrivers the same can be said for Kessler's (Haussler and Perdomo).

Yes thats right you read it. After Kessler lost to Calzaghe he beat undefeated Sartison who is now regular WBA SMW champ and fought away to Haussler in Germany who was a world class SMW and had just drawn with the European champion. Haussler had never been stopped and always been competitive. It was a good away win for Kessler. After losing to Ward Kessler beat undefeated Froch

Kesslers resume is far superior to Butes. Sartison and Haussler is better than Brinkley and Miranda

Kessler's resume is far better than Bute's, but I still disagree about the three cans following the Calzaghe fight. Anyway, we could go back and forth about that, pointlessly. I do agree with what you said about Kessler, and everyone else in boxing, underestimating Ward. That was a foolish move on his part. I was on the fence the day of that fight. I didn't have faith in Kessler being the same fighter as before; but I didn't think Ward would be able to avoid the big right hand all fight. Ward fought and Jabbed very well, and with the help of the ref, butted his way to an easy win.

Showtime isn't paying him big money to take **** fights, and they get to dictate which opponents they'll approve.

Bute's team already had talk with Kessler! Kessler told them he will need a fight prior facing Bute if Kessler can come back!
