agree if a world title fight comes along but I cannot see it in the first 6 months of the year I am sure they could get Pirog over here but I doubt they will pay for it.

Barker is the biggest fight thats not a world title.

I doubt this fight will happen now, but if it does I've got a feeling Barker will win a convincing UD.

tbh i think they both need each other. none of them has looked spectacular recently and if this fight was to happen could re-ignite the general public interest in the winner.

what makes you say barker is chinny? he has never showed a weak chin, he's been down a few times but hasnt been wobbled! macklin is 1 dimensional and is a british level fighter, he got schooled by varon:yep:yep he clearly got beat! barker will win almost every round against macklin, it will look like calzaghe-lacy:yep

Predictable post. They both looked awful in tjeir last fights but I think Macklin looked worse. Neither is as good as they have been hyped to be but I think Barker is the better technical boxer.

Interesting how so many are leaning towards Barker now. I always would have predicted Barker because everyone here had a warped view of the levels of these two particularly post-Belgecham. As if Macklin was a beast because he sparked a chinny Fin or some ****. This is an even fight, Macklin is tougher but Barker has better technique and speed.

Since Macklin signed with Warren he has gone backwards. First off after he won the European belt he should of been moved up to fight for a eliminator fight for a World title fight. I cant beleive how stale he has gone under Frank it is like he is just doing enough and isnt up for the fight but getting away with it.

I think Warren and Macklin need to act fast and move him onto the next level and Barker aint that level. I wouldnt mind seeing what he can do against the better fighters out there. To be honest Barker would struggle against Andy Lee never mind Macklin.

sorry but outside a world title or an andy lee fight this is the biggest thing out there for Macklin. Plus the fight would be an eliminator.

Lee-Macklin-Barker all at the same level

If Warren can get Macklin an eliminatator, then the WBO seems the most viable option. But im wondering does Macklin even want that, does he believe based on his recent performances he can beat Pirog when they meet, i don't think he does. So the WBA is a mess Sturm, Golovkin, N'Jikam. List of mandatories waiting for Martinez, Sylvester fighting soon and also has to fight Geale no later than July. Id agree with Big Dunk, outside of a world title shot, Barker is the the best money making fight for him.

To be honest Macklin against any of the Irish lads over here in Ireland would make him more money than this fight would. It would also be a good name for Macklin to have IF he was to beat them on his CV as both have been boxing in the US for some time.
Barker is taking a huge risk he will have not boxed in near enough a year by the time the 2 lads fight. He would need a tune up fight before he even gets in with Macklin who has had 2 fights in that space of time. Maybe a fight with Martin Murray would be a better option first and then a fight with Macklin.

I agree that Macklin vs Duddy or Lee would be bigger than Macklin vs Barker and far easier for him to get the win.

If you think that Macklin would beat Lee "far easier" than Barker then I think you need to reassess their respective talents hombre.
