Isn't that the truth. I think fighters like Haye, Wlad, Abraham etc... today have that one punch ability. Though the only one who seems to have the technique to drop those type of bombs without throwing wildly is probably Wlad, too bad he's so reluctant to let his hands go for fear of being countered. Though unfortunately for Jackson, his chin often times let him down. I think his first loss was to McCallum back in the early 80's, I believe it was a 2nd round knockout and in the early 90's it was McCellen that found his weakness in two fights. I kinda see Jackson as a Shavers type, could knock any fighter out in a given night. Though also can be knocked out themselves. Punchers like that don't come around too often.
Ain't that the truth. They always make for exciting fights though, especially when they might just get stopped themselves and won't hesitate to trade anyways. :thumbsup
I liked Jackson, but Martinez would be too fast for him, plus he has too much stamina, something that Jackson lacked.
There is a point in almost every fight where Martinez fades and gets fatigued. Somewhere around the 6th 7th or 8th he gets hit a lot more untill his second wind comes and it takes him a few rounds to get in the groove again. JJ would catch him with something around this time, you can't fight with your hands down against an ATG puncher like Julian when you're fatigued, unless you're special, Sergio is very good but not special. I think Jackson would get a stoppage whilst perhaps behind on the cards.
I'd expect Martinez to stay on his bike and easily outmove the often slow moving Jackson. Jackson did his best work against physically ordinary and come forward fighters, boxers could often outmove him for long periods of time. Even Terry Norris isn't really an esxception here, Norris had awkward foot movement at times, especially in the fact that he tended to get his legs criss-crossed as he moved, momentarily tying himself up at times. Jackson isn't without major physical issues either: he spent most of his career nearly blind in one eye from a detached retina, and in later stages of his career the same happened to his other eye. I'd expect Martinez to continually circle and look to exploit that. Jackson's best chances would be either catching Sergio with an aggressive rush early, or being patient enough and lucky enough to capitalize should Martinez tire late. Otherwise, Martinez by UD or stoppage, probably late.
Julian Jackson never lost a decision in his career. Which tells you, you probably had to knock him out to win, and in his prime, those who beat him, had to fight fire with fire, and those who tried to box him, got knocked out.
