What were some of the worst atmoshere's surrounding a fight?
Ali-Liston II was pretty bad, threats of violence.
Watt- O'Grady had threats against O'Grady's life.
Hagler- Minter had the new Champion ,showered in bottles.
    Any others?

Watt vs Nash wasn't pretty either.

Benn-G-Man had bad, bad vibes surrounding it. I got the doom watching the build up to that fight on a tiny little square tv in my mother's kitchen. Then, the terrible aftermath. I don't know about atmosphere, but I feel like that fight had some of the worst juju surrounding it.

Not wishing to state the obvious but:

    Johnson Jeffries

How often is a fighter faced with being shot or lynched?

There are other examples but they are harder to verify.

I read that the band played "All Coons Look The Same To Me" as Johnson walked to the ring...can anyone confirm this? Jesus Christ.

I have heard it from multiple sources, but would have to look for a primary source.

Johnson is such a ****ing badass. I can't imagine to many of even the great HW champions thriving in that sort of atmosphere. Holyfield. Maybe prime Frazier. Tyson would go full ****.

    Holmes Cooney in modern times.

But Johnson Jeffries really takes the cake here.

He was a double man. In the Ketchel fight when he goes down the crowd jumps up and looks all excited, then he gets up and sparks Ketchel and theyre all stood about looking like idiots.

Ruben Olivares vs Bobby Chacon I (1973)

15,000 fans cheering for the local, SchoolBoy Bobby Chacon.

The Olivares fans swarmed the place.

At least 100 good fights in the arena, before the main event.

Well that was agreed to be a light exhibition. Johnson agreed to not seriously hurt the much smaller man. Johnson was shocked when Ketchel took the oportunity to coldcock Johndon. Johnson was so enraged he immediatly dropped Ketchel. if you watch the film closely you can see Johnson brush one glove over the other. That was Two of Ketchel's teeth being swiped away, which were imbedded in Johnson's glove!!

    Hello MDWC.

High times for you with Liverpool and all, or can you not enjoy it with your own lot in the toilet?

I can enjoy it mate...for now... but I'll be there on Sunday and not too confident really (Kenny's first game back and all that malarkey). I was at his last Anfield game too 20 years ago- a 0-0 derby draw (in which we were denied the most obvious penalty since Hansen's handball on the line in the 84 Milk Cup Final :hey)
