I agree with this completely as bad as the weight distribution issues are and other issues surrounding the Sport no bigger cloud looms over Boxing then the World Title issue. This is the issue that always gets given to me by casuals as to why they don't follow the Sport more, because they just find it hard to understand and it's not hard to figure out why they find it confusing.

The people involved in Boxing are so parochial and short sighted it is surreal, Bob Arum has been going on about how Boxing is doing as well as it was in the 70s and 80s what a fool, if he honestly believes that then he needs to retire.

Tyson and Frazier put on different type of pressure. Tyson's mentality was to knock your head off with one shot, whilst Frazier's was to break you down. Therefore Joe was much more subtle and more effective against someone like Ali. Plus Frazier was actually a better inside fighter. Ali in the first Frazier fight would've beat Tyson. The reason Frazier gives him more trouble is because Joe started smoking the longer the fight goes and Mike Tyson started huffing and losing balance. Staying power and keeping the same level of effectiveness later in the fight is what separates them. I also think Joe would beat Tyson for this reason.

I think it could come down to mental strength.Frazier did not just walk through Ali,it was a tough fight and he had to deal with a lot.I dont think Mike would have been able to keep it going the way Joe did.As the rounds went by and he still had Ali in front of him throwing punches back and very much in the fight Mike would begin to doubt himself.I dont think a prime Ali beats a prime Tyson with ease but he would beat him.

I'm too drunk and stoned to reply to anything now, or to follow all of the stuff, there's too much stuff, too much reading. I'll reply coherently tomorrow

You can maintain this level of discussion until tomorrow, preferably after lunch

The thread sucked and the poster is a **** one. It effectively added as a room for us to bump into each other in and govon a Friday night ramble usually reserved for a round-by-round. Very enjoyable thus far, although we might've exhausted it now. I genuinely feel like I've exerted a lot of energy tapping a screen with my thumbs rapidly.

Because i can remember in Muhammad Ali vs Ken Norton II, Ali was ripped up compared to his norm. This was because he knew what Ken Norton capable of and he had a element of fear for himself going into that fight. That is the only way to get the best out of Muhammad Ali, strike some fear into him. Otherwise he will just go about his training in a casual manner, and just do enough. Muhammad Ali went about so many training camps in a casual manner, because he was talented and like having a good time...............only when he feared a oponent like Foreman or Liston.

"He he get up like a mother"

Mike Tyson is one of those type of fighters that would strike fear into Ali, that is why Ali would win, in a war. Any other Version of Ali, who was not in fear. Mike Tyson would beat him, because he would not be at the top of his game.

Good point, Prima...Ali did indeed respond differently when he felt threatened.

See what you can achieve when you stay in the pocket and focus? After all this time you maybe finally starting to understand the derivatives of this beautiful sport. Just try and keep it up, my mahn. :good

It's a great point. Tyson never had the fighting heart of Frazier but from a physical point of view Tyson had everything Fraziwer had and more. Tyson was faster, heavier, could hit with both hands unlike smockin Joe who could really only do damage with his left against the elite of the time and Mike Tyson's head movement at it's best was in my opinion more elusive than Frazier's.

Mike had the pysical attributes and style to beat Ali but his character is the only thing that might lety him down in the end.

The bit I've highlighted in you're post is a total myth, created by Tyson haters and his critics.

Was Mike Tyson of Zab Judah's mentality or something..? No.

Mike Tyson was a warrior who fought until the end, until he couldn't give no more.

In the Buster Douglas fight he took a all mighty beating, but never stopped walking forward. Buster Douglas stated......."That he saw no quit in Mike Tyson, in his eye's at any point of the fight"

Even against Evander Holyfield I, after he was hit with something like 20 un answered punches at the end of the 10th.

Off pure instinct, when other fighters would get on their bike.

At the start of the 11th round, Mike Tyson came out and attacked again.

He was already, out of it. But that was Mike Tyson off pure instinct..!!
