greatest irish fighter

    allright lads i was wondering who you guys consider the greatest irish pug ever. by irish i mean anyone who was either born in ireland or atleast one of thier parents born in the emerald isle. ill give a list of my top ten

    in no particular order

    john l sullivan
    jimmy barry
    nonpareil jack dempsey
    terrible terry mcgovern
    jack mcauliffe
    mike mctigue
    jimmy mclarnin
    george gardner
    rinty monaghan
    barry mcguigan

    yeah forgot tunney and a few others :patsch think his parents were from galway or mayo somewhere in the west, anyway if ya think someone who isnt on the poll is the best just mention it

    not irish myself but that's quite a ****ing list. based on those provided, i'll go with mclarnin p4p. makes you realize that for such a small geographical area, that's produced some great fighters

    im with ya on that even though mclarnin fought alot of blown up lightweights they were some of the greatest lightweights to ever lace em up

    Gotta go with Terrible Terry but McLarnin is right up there.

    yeah man mcgovern was a beast beating palmer, dixon, and erne the bantem feather and lightweight champions in the space of a year great achievment and going on to beat a guys like gans tops it off

    fabolous fighter he was

    the win over gans (regardless of what you think of it) is probably the best win by an irish fighter in history

    Got to be McLarnin from that list. Although we're being pretty loose with who's Irish or not.
