I think Chuvallo would, but this would be a highly entertaining fight. I also predict multiple knockdowns.:hey
:tong this would be a great lead in to a world title fight. two hard working *******s punching each other for 15 rounds
Chuvalo was much the better puncher and better fighter. Being shorter, George would also get under him and belabor Cobb's body. Whether it was over ten rounds, 12 or the championship distance, there'd be no question as to who deserved the UD at the end. Good entertaining scrap, but Chuvalo was at a different level. Even a near peak Ali failed to shut him out.
Yes...Chuvalo would win a lopsided decision...and there would have been 0 chance of a knockdown. If ever you would see a fight with the least chance of a count it would be this one!
I agree with the majority. Chuvalo was indeed technically better. I also think that he was physically stronger. But nobody is getting stopped in this one. Chuvalo by clear UD in a fight where he is made to work for his win.
:goodcan we agree that the headliner that night better be spectacular cause george and tex would put on a show
at 1st glance it looks like This one goes the distance but Chuvalo went to the body well and this could be a factor in this fight. Cobb had a good chin and had heart, 2 things George is known for....George may wear Cobb down for a body work stop but more than likely take a UD
Tex could take it downstairs and absorbed some real bombs from Shavers underneath. Cobb was quite tired at the end, but did outlast Earnie. Chuvalo had superior stamina, but not quite the same firepower. If there is a stoppage, George gets it, but I do think this is unlikely. In his PKA match with Big John Jackson, Tex absorbed some monstrous kicks to both the head and body from an opponent known to produce knockouts with his feet. Interestingly, Jackson wound up dominating with his hand techniques while Cobb was the predominant kicker. Tex generated so much force through his 30 inch thighs that the effort gradually wore him down as their match progressed. This was a very entertaining scrap, and I'd love to see it appear on youtube.
George Chuvalo vs. Randall 'Tex' Cobb.,,,,,, A DRAW,,,,,, People forget, Tex Cobb was more than a brawler, he had good hand skills, and he was a black-belt in Karate, or some Martial Arts Black belt.
Unlike a lot of guys with granite chins both of these guys could absorb serious whallops to the midsection.
