It could b a good guess and I wish you guessed wrong, but I'll not witness the slaughter if he doesn't come in shape.
What do you think the chances are that Solis will come in 7 pounds lighter than he ever has before as a pro? Do you have any faith in him getting his act together?
I can only hope, but no I don't think I'll b watching the fight, if only his ppl and himself could c the bigger picture he would come in shape.
Solis only fights in spurts which is probably because of his poor conditioning. Also, his accuracy ain't too good when he does let his surprisingly fast hands go. He seems made to measure for Vitali though VK looks like hes slowed down alot and could just get old on the night. Good match-up for the division. Just hope Solis puts some effort into training rather than turn up for a beating and a pay cheque.
Solis has never got out of second gear as a pro. Yes he is fat and uninterested so far. However he has a great boxing brain, a good defence and has never had a problem with getting to a tall fighter. Even fat and uninterested he beats everybody Vitali has fought since Lewis. The question is which Solis shows up. The out of shape not interested guy who thinks if he turns up he wins because his oppentents have been so poor. Or the real Solis from his amateur days. Vitali has looked good in recent fights but his oppentents have been awful. Neither guy has had to go to the well recently. Both will when they meet. I can not see Vitali taking a risk given he will retire soon and Solis is the guy people will have to beat when he is gone. Unfortunatley I can see Solis just turning up complacent. Realising and getting it right in future.
I have voted for Solis. I am putting my faith in Solis turning up 245 or less and hungry to win. This may require a bigger leap of faith than the actual fight. Guys please keep your verbal bullets until the weighin.
Even at 245 (a weight Solis has never been during his professional career), that's still too heavy to compete against Vitali and have anything more than a fluke chance of winning. Solis should be no more than 225. I still don't think he'd win, but he'd at least make a better showing for himself.
I see alot of hate for Oner on these forums. I don't know much about him other than he's a promoter for alot of the Cuban's. What's so bad about him?
At 30 years old and gaining so much weight 230-245lbs will b his optimum weight, 220 will b an strecht he doesn't want to b weak against a big guy like VK, as long as he is strong, fast and doesn't gassout he will b ok, getting there is the problem.
So why Adamek want to have weight below 220? Solis should do the same, but now he don't have time to do 220 in 2 months... Vitali will win by TKO.
Ahmet Öner is known for trying to influence fights and judges not only before but even during and after the fight, by any means possible. Don King x2 if you ask me.
Solis has a bigger frame than Adamek. His ideal weight would be at about 230 even 240, as with his style, he wouldn't want to be pushed around. But he's 40 pounds above that which will clearly impact on his stamina. And when stamina is a problem, you're not beating VK.
Solis doesn't use a lot of movement, that's not his style. He isn't a outside fighter like Adamek and Haye. He fights like a turtle, and relies on a certain amount of strength and bulk to get absorb shot's with a compact guard. At 225 he gets overpowered and manhandled like Gomez and Sosnowski in my opinion...
Could be...but Sosnowski at 230 looks pretty strong, imo. This content is protected I don't think Solis at 250 has any more muscle than Sosnowski. Solis has more fat, which equals more weight, which in turn could be harder to push around. But then again, Vitali had no problem pushing 260lbs of muscle Briggs around.
No, no problem with Brigs at all, and Briggs is by far better than Solis could EVER be. I mean, put Briggs in with Long. KO1. Put Briggs in with Solis, and Briggs KOs him in 5. Matter of fact, I'm calling for that to be Solis next fight after Vitali.
