Imagine a Prizefighter made up of faded legends

Jones Jnr, Tony, Holyfield, Tarver still make $250k + a fight.

They would talk about it but for the wrong reasons. Theres no reason for anyone over 40 to still be boxing.

Sorry about the Wiki link, but what is written is true, other than monies won, Tubbs won nearer $64,000 if my memories correct. (A potential $1,000,000 could of been won by all the fighters combined).

That's not quite what the OP is suggesting though. I think a version featuring former legends would be a better sell.

Yeah, these guys shouldn't be fighting, but they are, so why not make it interesting?

 

Tubbs, Smith and Ribalta were the Toney's, Holyfield's and Tua's of 1993! The thing cost the promotion a fortune and was laughed at by the trade, as is the silly Prizefighter thing now a days.

There is only one thing less appealing than two 45 years slapping each other around, and that is eight 45 year olds slapping each other around in seven fights over an entire evening.

At least if Holyfield or Toney fights a 12 rounder you know the ordeal will be over inside an hour!

As I stated, three round fights and tournaments are for the amateurs not pros.

And I think RJJ, Holyfield and Toney are bigger than those guys. Imagine if Tyson got involved too. The casuals would be all over it...

Have it at Wembley, give them all £200k for appearing with an extra £800k for the winner. It would sell for sure.

But anyway, you are saying what £200,000 times eight, plus another £800,000, so that is £2.4 Million. On top of this, you have advertising, arena costs (Wembley Arena not going to be cheap, the Stadium is going to cost a fortune), TV costs, plus other general expenses.

So the promotion is going to cost £15,000,000 and that is if you can get the talent for the £2.4 Million stated. 10% contingency, rounds it up to nearer £17 Million.

Wembley Arena £200 (average) a ticket is going to get you what £3,000,000? PPV sales £15 say 1,000,000 buys in a perfect world. Minus boxers percentages, say 10%, and SKY's, what, 50% cut?

So I make that a £17 Million investment for a return of -£8 Million. And that is on the proviso of getting the talent for less than £3Million and getting SKY on side and making record PPV sales and selling out Wembley Arena at £200 a ticket...
