Floyd Mayweather Jr. would've been just as dominant in Sugar Ray Robinson's era

It's a moot point. Floyd Mayweather has fought **** All in the Welterweight division. Old man Mosley, Fat **** Marquez, Jr. Welterweight Hatton, and Carlos Baldomir.

He has two names on his record, one of more value than the other, being Zab Judah and Sharmba Mitchell. And Zab's hardly been the most achieved Welterweight in the game considering everytime he stepped up there he got his ass beaten. In my eyes, Floyd's legacy is nothing. And there's a gap in the first few rounds when a fighter like a Hearns or a Leonard... ****ing hell I shudder to think what they'd do to him.

He doesn't even hold anything special in the other ranks either. Corley isn't a bad name to have on his record for Junior Welterweight, but that's all he's got and Gatti. Come on, man. At least Ricky Hatton fought Tszyu and fighters like Urango. The only division where Floyd made a name and has some wins that make you sit up is the lightweight division, but it's still not good enough to say he could survive in a era like SRR's.

N'Dou, Castillo (one being controversial as ****, might I add), Corrales. That's it? Really? He doesn't even hold bonafide lightweight king wins there either.

    What a load of ****.

This thread asks about Floyd competing in the 40's, and is somehow becoming a comparison to Pacquiao again - I don't believe Manny fought in that era, nor did Cotto.

didn't he hurt his shoulder against Castillo, and supposedly injure his ribs in training for the Marquez fight, and anyways the hands are part of the body?

I actually think that Floyd would have done better in SRR's era than he would have in the Sugar Ray Leonard's

thanks for finding it, saved me some time:good

but GOAT means that your better than ANY fighter that ever was or will be so that includes Sugar Ray Robinson

it doesnt matter if he blatantly said it like Floyd Mayweather or indirectly said it the point is he still said it

yes i also believe the best talent was in the 80's era because of all the weight classes today the talent is too spaced out

  12. If I recall correctly it was in the promotion of the margarito fight, a few days after that they asked him did you really say you were the goat, and he was like no they misunderstood or something and he said that he never wanted to be the greatest just a good champion that would make people happy and said his influences were chavez, leonard, oscar something like that.
thats why different then floyd saying he is the greatest downplaying ray robinson with the who did he fought? attitude, saying norton beat ali 3 times, he is better then leonard becaus he gotko'd by camacho etc.
