He's flat out wrong then isn't he. Oakey might have his limitations, but one thing he can do, is fight, might not have the skills to compete with the very best, but he can fight, mix it. I like Oakey, always good value for money.
Billy in no way is this directed at you but i just remembered something and i dont think it deserves its own thread.... a very reputable amateur coach in england is bitter as hell with amir khan (sorry guys i will not mention any names), he says his top amateurs have more skills than maidana and khan hasn't done much, gbp/warren have been protecting him with soft touches and that his amateurs would pick maidana apart. this kind of bitterness really does my head in, this coach is a very well known coach in the amateur scene (not my coach before anyone starts wondering) and for someone as respectable as himt o say that... i really have nothing to say, makes me speechless.
Agree with most sentiments. George is good guy. As is Tony who I'm sure will understand his response. Only fear for George is that living within arrogant bubble of Haye/Booth blinds him to the fact that his defence needs a hell of a lot of work. As for Silly Billy Halfwit Nelson, stop typing with your boxing mits on.
George Groves is not and will not be the only fighter to have ever said something as stupid as that. As much as I like watching him fight he does strike me as a bit of a ****ing child. And I believe that he, Booth and Haye think they're some sort of crew out to 'run the joint'. What he said was disrespectful and out of order but there's another waiting around the corner to say something stupid. Khan's probably thinking one up right now. I think Groves can go as far as European but I'm not convinced he can win a world title.
You can go and take one to yourself mate,GG has basically admitted saying these remarks regarding my mate Tony and is backtracking. i will always defend my friends end of! eithier way i stand by my prediction that GG wont go further than domestic level and that Degale will win with ease if and when they meet
Even if he did, he was big enough to apologise and you don't think the media twist things to put needle where there is none? Man up Billy, George has apologised for his remarks and has made it clear that he has no ill will towards Tony and so should you.
It's just words. Unless I hear the tone and context they were said it it means sweet FA. Billy I'm supprised you'd get involved in this. It's nice to have guys like yourself on here that tend to rise above the playground tactics. And as far as degale is concerned lets see what happens when he gets hit as we're yet to find out.. We know far more about Groves at the moment, some of it good, some of it bad!!!
billy for all you have shown as a coach over the last while, silly statements like this make you look a bit childish. if tony was that bothered why didn't he do something about it? and does he really need you defending him??? i doubt it
He didn't admit saying thay he was a **** fighter which was your whole point. His comments were taken out of context.
If we're talking about boxers bringing the sport into disrepute, let's not forget that Oakey isn't exactly a saint where that's concerned. His own past actions have hurt his reputation far more than a few throwaway comments from a fellow young fighter have. I don't get all the commotion over this - very strange.
Billy you absolute twat. Have you even read what George said in response...probably not because you didn't even read the origonal article.
