Garfios, saludos mi hermano. We mostly agree about Solis except in the part that you think that he is not in shape. If he was slow, easy to hit and got really tired in there then I wouldn't be wasting my time with him but he is fast, has a great powerful jab, has great movement combined with accurate agression, can take a great punch and on top of that he can punch. Another great thing about him is that he " never backs away " from anyone, he puts constant pressure and this is why Vitaly will be in trouble. You don't have to be chiseled with hardly any fat in order to be successful because if a boxer carries his weight well, hardly gets tired and will not interfere with his boxing skills then he is ok.

I have also seen too many " chiseled, ripped HV's that haven't accomplished anything as pros " ...

You got my hopes up with the thread title...I was expecting something like "I am sooo sure that Solis will beat Vitaliy that ... I am betting $2,000 and my firstborn on Odleander." Instead you just offered to not post for a month if he loses. This thread is anticlimactic...:-(

But he pace himself too much, why? I guess because he doesn't have the stamina to go all out for 12th rounds, how do you change that? Eating right and training hard, lose some weight because not only he will b healthier, he will b prepare to do battle and if he give 100%, 10 years from now he will not b second guessing himself.

Except I heard the exact same reasons why Peter, JCG, Arreola where going to beat Viali too :-(

Calling out the Devil and facing him are two different things.
I'll bet Vitali by TKO :rasta

I know, I know. That's I'm sayin' He's going to have to do more. Be more Aggressive and throw more punches. I know he can throw more than 50 per round, but he likes to counter at tiimes and waits for his opponent to throw. But in against Vitali he's going to have to keep throwing and risk taking some shots (hes' got a great chin) to get his in. Vitali dosn't make many mistakes, so this is the only chance Solis has in making Vitali make mistakes and cantch him in doing so.

In other words, I feel Solis has to bring a no risk no reward mentality and be ready to leave it all in the ring. He can't let it go to the cards.

I respect you for sticking to your guns. I know you just don't throw predictions around without really giving it some thought. You know Solis and his abilities far better than I do, and maybe better than any other poster here on ESB.

Like Garfios said, I'm going to have to see the weigh-in to catch a glimpse of what kind of dedication Solis put into training. Then I could really make a solid prediction.

Quick question... If Solis does beat Vitali, how would you rate his victory as compared to the other Cubans that have gone pro?

Yeah, Solis needs to KO Vitaly and that's understood. For Solis to win on points he really has to inflict some heavy damage on him, as any other way Vitaly will always be the victor. But I have a really strong feeling that Solis is going to stop him. :good

Thanks. If Solis beats Vitaly ( when he beats Vitaly ), it will possibly be Cuba's best accomplishment at the pro level since Castro took over in 59. Why? Because 4 Cubans have fought for the HV Crown ( Castillo's brothers, JC Gomez and Jorge Luis Gonzalez ) and all 4 failed. Solis has a chance at becoming Cuba's first HV Champion ( or the first Latin American HV Champion as Ruiz is born in the USA ).

Solis is shorter and fatter than any of them. What exactly does he have going for him?

I think you must be thinking of a different Solis because they one I have seen has displayed anything but "constant aggression." Vitali is past his prime but he can win this fight with his jab alone.

He's faster and in my honest opinion, he has a better skill set. Height doesn't matter when it comes to Solis.
