Welcome to last week. For RJJ, what killed him was the gaining and then losing weight ridiculously fast... Never was the same after that...
I think Jones is the only fighter I know of who is ridiculed for being beaten well past his prime. I'm not sure he gets the amount of animosity he does, whereas guys like Duran, Leonard, Ali, Tyson etc., don't. Maybe it was his cocky style? I don't know. It's certainly not deserved though.
whats impressive is he still manages to compete at a high level with no legs when he had legs= invincible
what a stupid thread, if you were a boxing fan then u would admire this guys ability ur obviously not
Probably has to do with his taking the easy road much of his career rather than always facing the toughest opposition. Then again when he did fight top guys he could still beat them handily (like Toney).
Easy road. Just bc he fought Frazier who was his mandatory and he was obsessed with belts and didn't want to be stripped. If you look at Jones's resume you will see that he fought a **** load of champs that were current, past or became champ after he left that division.
Because he fought Telesco,Frazier,Hall,Brannon,Sosa,Byrd,Kelly and other bogus mandos to keep his paper straps while never cleaning out a division or beating ONE lineal champ.:hi:
