Floyd is the number one for footwork in the present day, and I think that's pretty clear. Hopkins might come second in this category. We're talking about a +45 year old man who is crafty enough on his feet to keep top athletes in their prime guessing.
Pac's footwork is ridiculous. To quote Johnny Drama...."Look at those calfs." RJJ had insanely fast footwork in his prime.. Floyd obviously.. SRL had amazing footwork...
Yup, Floyd, Hopkins and Pacman have amazing footwork. Floyd is great at fighting off the back foot. He's always leaning backwards and looking to counter but also lead at times. His reflexes are also amazing which help him a lot with his offense and defense. Pacman? What can you say. The guy's foot speed is off the charts. Roach has polished this guy into a devastating machine. He is so much more improved with keeping his feet under him instead of lunging forward and being off balanced like he used to be. It's night and day. His offense is now controlled mayhem whereas in the past, it used to be uncontrolled mayhem. Hopkins? The utter matter of controlling distance and range. Not to mention, always having his feet under him when he's throwing those power shots. He's almost always never off balanced.
im not a huge fan of the little 'pony-step' that cotto does that even his colleague henry bruselles acquired who knows what im talking about?
I really liked the way Barrera and Hatton use a quick side step to get the body shots around the elbows of their opponent, its not easy to place a body shot like that.
Are we talking footwork of foot speed here??? Great foot speed but very poor footwork at world level - Hatton Poor foot speed but great foot work at world level - Joe Louis
