I think he has a chance but I agree that it's probably a step too far and that Khan will win.

Winky Wright is a great fight for Macklin im happy hes got it.Excellent coverage on HBO championship boxing and a chance 2 beat a former undisputed champion.other massive fights down the road if he cant get the better of winky. It will be a very tough fight i have no doubt about it,so macklin needs to get back too the wildcard for some quality sparring and tactical help from roach as winky,as faded as he may be will still be very dangerous.i really feel if hes at the top of his game he will beat winky.this is lookin like a special year for irish boxing.cant wait :happy

Well the lads must be on a nice few quid if they still getting the full sports council grant and wsb wage esp. egan. That good as give lads chance to stay amatuer longer with a nice wage.
Just wondering are they getting nice crowds and interest in the world series , will it be a success money wise for there clubs. IF so why dont peters or someone get dublin or belfast a team we have some talent at the moment for it , surely be well supported here.

If Macklin has gone to Golden Boy- does that mean Warren's rumoured Irish show is less likely?

Lads, here is an update on the Dudey-Khan fight.

Francie McNicholl, Pauls manager and father-in-law seems pissed to be honest. He says that Khan's dad is very hard to work with and that the offer was an "insult." Lots of interesting stuff in the interview including some of the clauses Khan's team wish to impose.

Someone can start a thread on this on the Brit forum, I don't have the time or the patience to listen to most of them ****s. The standard of conversation on that Brit forum really has declined in recent months

The management of WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan have issued a warning to potential opponents. The want opponents to stop being "money hungry." Khan is experiencing issues with setting down his opponent for April 16. Asif Ali, Khan’s business manager, told Telegraph Sport that talks were being stalled by the “ridiculous financial demands” that are being made by such fighters as Paul McCloskey and Lamont Peterson
“There are several opponents under discussion for Amir’s mandatory defence but they need to get realistic and not treat him like a cash cow,” said Ali.
Shah Khan, the fighter’s father, gave a smilar account to the paper. He says McCloskey will end up like Jon Thaxton, who overpriced himself a few years ago and retired without the opportunity to ever face Khan.
“They get the chance of fighting Amir, and seem to think they can add a couple of noughts on the purse. I don’t know where they get the notion from that we are awash with money for his fights. McCloskey still holds on to his European title, win or lose, yet he has the chance to make his name if he can beat Amir. The same thing happened a couple of years ago with Jon Thaxton, and the fight never happened. Thaxton has since retired and never got the opportunity,” Shah said.

How about nobody goes to the wild card? Personally i think some fighters that go there seem to become unknown in the Gym. i think Freddie Roach has too much on his plate and big fighters lik Amir Khan, Pacquiao, Chavez jr and Martirosyan who will always get his attention over fighters like Craig Mcewan and Dean Byrne. Byrne was inactive for almost a yr for god sakes surely the wonderful Freddie Roach could have got him a fight? and in the end he didnt where Dean ended up fightin on a Dolphil card here. Mcewan aswell has been inactive for a long time now, Even Jamie Kavanagh has videos on you tube of him trainin and Roach is absent from a lot of them. I just think the Wild Card Gym is getting way overhyped and is not the solution for every fighter, Freddie Roach is only 1 man!

Exactly, a lot of "big name" fighters dont talk to the man from one day to the next.

Great for sparring on a Friday though.

Way to many fighters in that gym and far to easy to get lost and fade away and be forgotten. Altho Dean's lack of action would have very little to do with were he trains. Jamie is lucky he has Sedano with him all the time and has 100 % attention from him

The sparring alone is worth being there in my humble opinion
