Compare Duran, Chavez and Barrera as technicians

Duran then Chavez then Barrera. Three superb technicians, but a very clear 1-3. Straightforward thread.

 

Hey, I applaud any thread about three badasses. It's all sweet. Oh, Addie is stuck on a loop in my signature, so he's busy right now.

 

I think of Chavez as more of a "technician" than the two.

Duran was wild and unorthodox often. Roberto's an all around better fighter, but if we're viewing them as better "technicians", I think pretty much everything Chavez did in fights like the Rosario fight was technically perfect. Patient, calculating, accurate, never charging in, etc.

 

Not really. Passionate, but not wild. He was usually very controlled and technically sound. His technique was of a much more versatile variety than either of the other two. Duran mastered the more advanced techniques like feinting and angling, things that allowed him to utilise somewhat unorthodox tactics, but do so in a controlled way. Chavez and Barrera were more of the textbook boxer-puncher/pressure fighter variety. Every punch tight and thrown by the book, chin tucked in, proper hand placement, etc. Duran went beyond that.

 

You're right. Duran was a level 80 wizard of boxing.

 

MAB is the most technically skilled. No doubt.

However, in terms of ATG ranking:
