Isn't super-welter the same as light middle?

McCloskey's manager must have misunderstood something.

    That's not standard.
Asking for a rematch clause is one thing but what they are asking is nonsense.

"They're not prepared to meet our demands, they're not prepared to give us what we want. We feel our demands are reasonable, but they're not prepared to move on it."

this is what botherd me. they are in no position to demand anything. Team Khan can offer them the fight. You either say yes or no as there will be other fighters willing to say yes.

Options though... not completely tying him to them.

Depends how many options they ask fore. Sometimes promoters ask for 2 or 3 options.

John Simpson said he had to give Maloney options on his next few fights to get the Lindsay fight.

    That's not how negotiations work.

it is hes not the mando and its not a unification , so khans taking all the risk this is standard practice to have options on mckloskey if he gets the win

I'd imagine Golden Boy is making the demand. I doubt they're thrilled at the thought of Khan fighting in the UK fullstop and now they're being asked to approve him going up against a fighting completely unknown in America. They're going to demand something to protect their investment and their participation in the unification match with Bradley/Alexander.

Nope. If there was, we would have definitely heard about it, especially since it was a close fight on top of that.

As others said, it's just standard when making optional defences.

it is when your Amir Khan and have a date with HBO, Sky and the MEN Arena and your McCloskey who brings nothing to the table.

It was Khans ppl who approached them as they are the ones who want to have a fight in the UK.
Otherwise Khan will be back fighting in the USA again. At least Golden Boy will be more involved.
I mean its every fighter that is somehow asking too much. What are the chances?

no this fight is happening in the uk that is and always has been the plan , the mcklosky angle is just to make it a bigger fight here even if its sacrafices some attention from america

this is standard practice , mckolskys one of 3-4 pottentiol opponents he needs to take a good look at this deal and realise hes done nothing to deserve this shot and hes getting a good deal when you factor that in

McCloskey is an opponent and Khan needs one of them. Why don't team Khan say what percentage of the purse they find to be "reasonable"?
