+1 He showed great skills, in the fights with Carr, Camacho, Campas, Zulu, etc...I mean this wasn't Ricardo Mayorga, The man had skill as well as power.:deal
If something is repeated enough it becomes true. That's why I said people should check it for themselves. DLH is not even the sole exception b/c he got hit with something later in that fight that made him run. You had to be a great defensive fighter. B-hop and Winky at 160. At Welterweight shiiit I don't know what you had to be.
I love him. He had great power and deadly accuracy along with being able to go out on his shield. He found Oscar(in the last few rounds), Whitaker, and Camacho so really look at those fights to see his accuracy on display. The Mayorga fight is a great display of accurate powerpunching but I don't put too much into Tito's accuracy in that fight as he was against no defense Mayorga. Yes he was caught with having too much tape so ignore what Azztecas is saying. Kessler also used too much tape before in one bout. Wikipedia is a sucky source.
Keep in mind that the way Tito's hands were wrapped was only illegal in New York. NSAC has no rules against the way they were wrapped.
So true bro..That's all I hear "He had trouble with boxers, he couldn't beat a good boxer, blah blah blah.." My man won 20 title fights 16 by KO..But none of those guys could "box"
Thats what always confused me about him. Hopkins made him look limited but Hopkins is extremely good and a lot bigger. What are your views on the DLH fight? I've never actually watched the whole fight.
One of these days, I'ma get you to admit you're a fan of his...I know you got his carrer set on dvd..I know you do dawg.
Crazy. He will be more apppreciated as time goes on I believe. He had a incrdible run in boxing. Freddy loves Tito and cried when he lost to B-hop.
joke... trini was a beast and for those that missed his days, definately pick up a career set... he fought with puerto rico on his shoulders, and let his opponents know that with every left hook thrown....
I defiinitely think their is a good chance Tito loaded his gloves, or his father/trainer did. The way his punches flew it was as if his hands had a life of their own, like the weight of the gloves was more than just leather and sweat.
I can't watch the Hopkins fight..:-( But all you need to know is B-Hop is still schooling the younger champs of today...a decade later, and we thought he was old when he fought Tito...Do not bet against Hopkins ever...:deal The DLH fight was to me his greatest perfomance...for 8 rounds He was brilliant..Why he decided to fight the last 3/4 rounds like he did, who knows..what we do know is that he had a great strategy, and great skill, and he was beating Tito, but why'd he stop? Bad corner advice? Not enough stamina to move like that for 12 rounds? Did he taste Tito's power and say "I've won enough rounds why give this guy a chance to land a big one?" I wish there woulda been a rematch so we could have those questions answered, but sadly that ship has sailed a long time ago...
