Duddy was a proper pro, always gave good fights. It's a shame he didn't pick up some sort of domestic title. If he thinks his times up then fair play to him for pulling out.
Fairly shocking, thought he would be alright for the Lee fight. Still if there's something wrong then there's no point risking it, Duddy's a good fella, that last thing you'd want is for him to get hurt. I've been thinking for a while his heart wasn't in the boxing anymore. I was just hoping for him get some decent paydays, after what happened with his promoter. Glad he got the Chavez fight out of it anyway, and it's good he wont be hanging around longer than he should.
I'm kind of glad in a way, I couldn't see him beating Lee but I like him and he seems a genuine nice guy, no need to take unnecessary beatings. Wish him all the best, hopefully he'll end up as a pundit on RTE and replace that useless idiot Jim Rock.
Sad to hear. Duddy always came to fight. Hopefully he has cashed in enough on his career to keep him out of the ring. It's good to see him using his head though he has no need to be in the wars anymore if he isn't committed 100% to boxing.
Fair enough. He's been very honest with himself there, and I hated seeing the kind of shots he took. He took punches I don't think anybody else is capable of at times in terms of how telegraphed and obvious they were yet they still landed with regularity, the Smichet fight was horrific defensively and while it was exciting it was kind of disturbing at the same time. I wish him luck with his future endeavors.
Wish him well. Hope there isn't an underlying medical issue, although if there is I wouldn't blame him for keeping it private (no ones business but his and his familys). A part of me is relieved he's getting out with the amount of punishment he took. I hope he has a great life.
