No, I think you forgetting the eye catching last 30 second rallies that Eubank produced, and often impressed the judges. I had Watson winning, but the fight was close enough for me not to feel to hard done by for Watson, particularly as Watson (sadly, with hindsight) got a rematch.

There is a big difference between a close fight, that you felt went to the wrong fighter, and a robbery. Eubank was never in a robbery.

Holmes also benefitted from a couple of arguable ones himself, though. Against Tim Witherspoon and Carl Williams. I'm not claiming that the challengers should have definitely got the nod,but they were close enough for arguement.

I agree with you on THIS one Alex. I recall watching it as it happened. I'm surprised my neighbours on either side never complained about my language :fire

Even allowing for the 'controversial' clinching,Ali employed the right tactics to beat Joe on that night. There's also a case of Perez's....erm....'tinnitus' when he heard bells too early on in the second round, after Muhammad had stunned Joe.

    I thought Ali-Frazier 2 was very close.
Frazier was landing some heavy leather in there.
Ali landed more punches but some were really light, and he did all the stalling.
I think I had Ali winning it by a very close 6-5-1. At least 4 of the rounds were dead close.

How 'bout Ali in the 1970's....he won some of them because of who he was..not because he deserved the decision!!!

i can see it going either way but if the ref wasnt such a **** and stuck to the rules frazier would have most likely won.

As you say, some of the rounds were very close. At the time I watched it last,I scored it 7-4-1 Ali.

What about if Perez had n't have been stricken with his sudden bout of tinnitus,in the second round ? I'm not saying that it was set in stone that Ali would have stopped Frazier, but one will always wonder.
