If Joe Calzaghe had lost a fight, would you still consider him an ATG?

He would have been the greatest fighter of the decade.
Been on the cover of The Ring Magazine many times.
His wins over world rated Americans Sheika, Brewer, Manfredo, Mitchell and Lacy would have been declared as massive fights and massive wins, and well just read on here how much praise Ward gets for beating an unwell already beaten Kessler, so imagine the hype a win over a healthy undefeated Kessler would have recieved.
The WBO 21 defences, WBC WBA IBF & Ring champion.
    The greatest SMW ever

The wins over Hopkins and Jones would have been massive wins

When Floyd Mayweater fights a Sugar Pudwill or a Rick Thornberry we'll talk about his achievements.

Maybe he`ll take on an Andrew Council or a Steve Frank.

His career would've been totally different, because he would NEVER have been able to feast on bums for 9 years before trying to unify.

In the US, the champions are much more under the spotlight, so they can't get away with long, easy-option single-belt title reigns like Joe C did.

B-Hop had been a champ for 5 years before he was in Don King's mw tourney, unifying against Holmes then beating Trinidad in a superfight.

This happened because he was based in the USA, because the spotlight is on there and you can't get away with long stretches of shitty title defences.

Does anyone remember the pressure put on Jermain Taylor after only TWO cherrypicked defences against Ouma and Spinks?! And that was after Taylor had HOPKINS, HOPKINS, WRIGHT in his three previous!!

Imagine the insanity that would be kicked up by fans and media if Taylor had tried to fight Ouma's and Spinks's for 9 years like Calzaghe did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joe is an alltime great period and he did the things that you say you wanted floyd to do he took a risk and fought an undefeated kessler when everybody thought of him as Drago. He fought Lacy when everybody thought he was the next Tyson. give credit where its due man Joe was the man.

no the 3 fights with robert allan stand up today alongside the ali v frazier trilogy and the barrera v morales trilogy

the hakkar victory was much demanded by the american public, they demanded hopkins took that fight and fought welterweights instead of moving up to super middleweight and fighting joe calzaghe for a career high payday IN AMERICA :rofl

Has nothing to do with his record. Hopkins won at least 6 rounds in his fight with Calzaghe. Bhops clearly won the first half, Calzaghe clearly winning the 2nd. Should of been a draw. Where I have a problem is Calzaghe not giving him a rematch. That way he would of erased any doubts to his greatness. He's still great in my eyes, but I don't rate him higher than Hopkins because the fight was too close. Hopkins did the more effective punching while Calzaghe the more active. Winky landed more punches of Hopkins, yet he lost the fight.
