Gans also had a deadly short cross that you can see devastate Kid Herman with him. Leonard was purportedly a great user of the straight right as well, being his sharpest punch in terms of hitting quality. Who had the best?

Ike Williams ,who I saw was a great and vicious combination puncher,relied on his speed, but Lew Jenkins I believe hit harder with his one punch right cross,like a coiled snake. Of course Ike was the better fighter...
My shouts have already been mentioned (Ike Williams, Arguello)............Edwin Rosario deserves an honorable mention. El Chapo was pretty compact with it too and did not telegraph it. Lethal.
Does Whitaker count? Best SP jab ever imo Depends what you go for, most people look at power, but you need to look at accuracy/speed/timing/precision ability to use as a lead/double. Duran is the overall best combination, Ike Ws is fast and powerful but imo not as good as Durans, Arguello's is great but a little slow, some better defensive fighters maybe able to stay away from it. For precision and speed Mayweather is up there. Mosley's overhand right is very powerful but perhaps telegraphed. Marquez's right hand is great by anyones standards
Post of the day, corroborated by JG.:good The thing with Arguello was that he was a sharpshooter with an uncanny intuitive knack for targeting vital anatomical spots. Ramirez said after his first bout with Rosario that Edwin was clearly a harder puncher with greater raw power than Alexis, but a straighter right than Arguello's couldn't be thrown without laser guidance.
Obviously, Williams, Gans, Duran and Arguello. More recently, I rather liked Edwin Rosario and even Miguel Angel Gonzalez.
