Any good British prospects??

    Hey guys, Ive not really been following boxing for the past year or so, is there any new prospects that have the potential to become world champions?

    Ive heard people mention Paul McCloskey a few times but ive yet to see him fight, is he any good?

    McCloskeys a bit old to be a prospect but he's a good boxer.

    Obvious British prospects:
    Nathan Cleverly
    James DeGale
    Kell Brook

    Good thread. I don't follow the unknowns much so this should give me some Iidea who to watch out for.

    Scott Quigg
    Carl Frampton
    Joe Murray
    Rhys Roberts

    All 4 around superbantam/feather. Frampton is probably the best of the lot with Quigg not far behind.

    Obviously there's the likes of Frankie Gavin and James DeGale as well.

    Gavin's the best British prospect for me.

    Outside of the obvious (Gavin, Degale etc), I'd say that Liam Cameron, Ronnie Heffron and Carl Frampton are all decent. Frampton probably showing more promise than the other two at this stage.

    Not sure whether Steven Smith is classed as a prospect any more, but deffo one to watch this year.

    Paddy have you seen much of Liam Cameron? I've read a fair bit about him and a lot of people seem to rate him but I can't remember seeing him in action.

    Think he's only being on Sky once or so. He's on the McDonnell card this week so I'm hoping he gets some airtime.

    Yeah, deffo Joe Murray.

    Quigg gets a lot of kudos but it may be just me, he should definitely have stepped up by now. Not seen enough of him really, but when I have I havent been bowled over.

    Not seen any of Rhys Roberts so will have to keep an eye out.

    Not seen much of him as a pro, but I'm pretty sure I saw a fair bit of him in the ams (if I'm thinking of the same lad that beat O'Shaugnessy in Liverpool about 18 months ago?). Had a style that very much lent itself to the pro ranks.

    Aside from his age I'm not sure McCloskey counts as a prospect when he's European champion. He's on the fringes of world class now which is why he's being considered for a title shot.

    There are loads of good prospects, its an exciting time.

    McCloskey and Frampton are Irish. Gavin is a decent British born prospect.
