If Joe Calzaghe had lost a fight, would you still consider him an ATG?

No one with any sense considers him an ATG now.

Being the greatest SMW would put him somewhere around 101st on the "ATG" list. Hopkins did enough to win the fight with slappy and the win against Jones is completely meaningless. The victory against Kessler is practically the only thing he accomplished in his entire career. I guess we can agree that Ward is also an ATG now?

He's not even ATG with an undefeated record.

    I think you'll find...

Calzaghe was champ for almost DOUBLE that time (9 ****ing years) before he mustered enough ambition to unify the WBO and IBF titles in the UK.

Perhaps if he had been American, he would've unified in 2002, and actually built up a good resume across his prime, no? :huh

Good post. I'm a big Zaghe fan but he shoulda rematch Hopkins even though Hopkins fans would just turn around and say "Oh but he's a year older, Joe beat an old man blah blah"

Why should Calzaghe have given Hopkins a rematch and the opportunity, you would all have said he twice fought Hopkins and mocked him for it, but more to the point why should Calzaghe have given the opportunity when Hopkins clearly backed away from fighting Calzaghe for so many years.
Hopkins has to live with the fact that Calzaghe scored the single highest card against Hopkins ever

:patsch Which still makes him the greatest SMW ever twat.
Calzaghe scored the single highest card against Hopkins ever. Live with it.
The fight with Jones was so meaningless that many predicted Jones to win including Hopkins who ducked Jones for years and was only willing to fight Jones after Calzaghe and when he was coming off of a first round KO. Funny how it wasnt a meaningless win for Hopkins. Double standards.
Also as well as Kessler he has a whole list of other world class fighters on his resume :smoke.
You really are a thick knob Robert, but yes you can call Ward a legend for beating an exposed, unwell double vision suffering fighter with illegal headbutts, who had already lost to Calzaghe

So then why didnt any of the top American SMWs of the decade step up then?
Why didnt Hopkins step up and fight any of Americas top SMWs? He threatend to and started hyping a fight with Mitchell only to think twice, maybe because he then couldnt avoid Calzaghe like he was if he did that
