Shavers is my top man, and he had a deadly left hook to go with his vaunted right. Earnie's indicated that the hardest shot he ever delivered was the monster which floored Holmes. (I haven't seen him clearly assert this on camera myself.)

Max Baer's single shot power was rated over that of Louis by all common opponents I'm aware off, as well as mutual sparring partner Hatchetman Sheppard. As with Earnie, his hook was nothing to sneeze at, as King Levinski discovered in their "exhibition." The first right hand he floored Carnera with was rated the hardest right hand over the first half of the 20th Century by Tunney (who was a ringside eyewitness).

Wepner rated Liston's power over Foreman's and Chuck did get knocked on his ass by a single right to the body from Sonny. This is a rugged 230 pound 6'5" heavyweight who got dumped in that manner. (Liston bowls him over with it in the concluding clip of rare footage at 3:03. As you can see, Wepner wasn't really caught off balance. The force behind that right drove him back and down.)

For a single shot, can any left hook be rated over the first one Dempsey floored Willard with? Late in round three, he hopped Jess into the air with another hook buried into the ribs.

  3. A VERY GREEN FOREMAN STOPED WEPNER IN 3 ROUNDS, AND LISTON DID IN 10. WOW YES, LISTON WAS HARDER PUNCHER!!! HAHAAH, FOREMAN FACED MUCH BIGGER MEN AND MUCH BETTER MEN ,HE FOUGHT IN HIS 40s AND STILL HIS %KO WAS MUCH HIGHER THAN THE %KO OF LISTON. BUT YES... YOU ARE RIGHT BECAUSE WEPNER SAID IT..... LMAO

  4. Joe louis and dempsey in 1974 said that foreman was the most powerful and the hardest puncher that they saw ever. And they did understand about power... But yes... Chuck wepner said...

Foreman actually said that Liston was the hardest puncher he himself ever faced. "The only man to move me back with a punch."

But I know these type of facts don't actually interest you :good

  6. MY LITTLE FRIEND.. I KNOW IT BEFORE THAN YOU KNEW THE WORD "BOXING"...
TO SAY "THE HARDEST PUNCHER THAT I FACED EVER" IS NOT TO SAY "HE WAS HARDER PUNCHER THAN MYSELF" SIMPLETON
AND LISTON NEVER KNOCKED DOWN EVEN A GREEN FOREMAN, RON LYLE DID. :hi: WHEN YOU NEED TO BE OWNED CALL ME..

George stopped Chuck in three rounds the same way Mathis and Bugner stopped him in three rounds-by turning his face into a bloody mess. But Foreman never put him on the deck like Sonny did on film.

Careful, you'll hit a nerve there!

  9. a green george foreman stopped wepner (his fight number 4), foreman was harder puncher than liston with both hands and he was stronger and any expert know it, if you can´t accept it . Sorry...

    This place is un-put-downable tonight.

  13. espn can talk ****.... ali said that tyson was harder puncher than shavers... Holyfield faced tyson, lewis, bowe,(tua sparring),bert cooper.... And he said that old foreman was by far the hardest puncher. Facts kid, not words...(BECAUSE LOUIS AND DEMPSEY KNEW MORE ON BOXING THAN ESPN). Liston never had the power of foreman and liston never had the %ko of foreman and liston faced much worse rivals than foreman did.

Ron Lyle knocked him about like he was a middleweight, and Lyle just couldn't drop ranked contenders. Didn't hit hard enough or well enough.
