Mundine Planning History after Defeat by Nathan Ryan - Sports News First - 24th Jan 2011 ANTHONY Mundine has revealed his plan for the next steps he will take in his boxing career this year. At 35, Mundine has his sights set on making history - not content with having held both the super middleweight and middleweight championships he wants to add junior middleweight to his collection. “I want to go for my goal and that’s to be the first man in history to drop three divisions and win titles,” Mundine told sportsnewsfirst.com.au at his father’s gym. The first item on his agenda is securing the a rematch with Garth Wood who knocked out Mundine in the fifth round of their bout late last year at Sydney’s Acer Arena. With 40 wins and four losses to his name, Mundine suffered arguably the biggest upset in Australian boxing when he was hit with a left hook and count out. “I would love the re-match it just depends on how negotiations pull through," Mundine said. “I put a lot of energy and effort and focus on training Sonny getting him ready for this fight. “My manager (Khoder Nasser) can take care of the other stuff. “If I don’t get the re-match I want to get the best junior middleweight that they can get out there.” For the past six weeks Mundine has been training Dual International Sonny Bill Williams for his biggest fight yet. Williams faces Scott Lewis, the man who beat former Cowboy Carl Webb, on the Gold Coast this Saturday. Mundine finds him in an unfamiliar scenario training a boxer to compete in the ring opposed to himself something we may see a lot more of in the future. “Maybe I would like to stay in boxing and work with some good talent,” Mundine said when asked if Australia is receiving a sneak peek to the future of ‘The Man’. “I’ve been training with Sonny when he trains and when he doesn’t spar so staying in a little bit of shape. “I haven’t really got that much longer to go, another five years maybe “We’ll see what happens after that.”
