If only Edwin Valero was alive, he'd be steamrolling these fighters at 135/140...

That's an open book so he probably knew that . . . he is simply trying to ignore the facts to justify his ignoramous line of arguement.

he had some good wins but nothing great. rankings need to be taken into context as well....based on the strength of the divisions at the time. his performances were good enough on paper but watching him was painful. his technique was terrible and he was really a dumb fighter, saved by brutal power and tenacity

Even if Soto lost to Guzman that doesn't change the fact that Valero ignored Soto. :deal

  4. Valero won every single round against DeMarco, if you really want to be generous, you could give DeMarco a pity round. That's classified as dominating in my eyes.

And if you've never seen Mosquera fight before, then you shouldn't talk when discussing whether or not he was a credible opponent. Because it seems like the experts at Ring Magazine, who actually saw him fight, disagree with you. :good

You do realize that even clearly winning every round (which Valero didn't) isn't the same as dominating, right?

You can have a close fight scored 120-108 if all the rounds were close but clear to one guy.

In this case, Valero started winning rounds more and more comfortably as the fight progressed and was firmly in the driver's seat by the end. He did not dominate from the opening bell.

When a promoter is trying to get one of his fighters fight another brutal figyhter, and that fighter packs up and flies out of town, to avoid that brutal fighter, it shows FEAR.

Did you see what Soto did to Guzman???
Soto did to Guzman, what no other fighter has ever done to Guzman, and that is, he made Guzman run like a scared chicken.

If you see Guzman;s other fights, youll see that he's flat-footed , walks through his opponents, and trades with his opponents.
He tried trading with Soto for the first 2 1/2 rounds, then Guzman couldnt handle Soto's power and cowardly hit SOto with an intentional low blow, and ran scared from Soto for the rest of the fight.
Guzman would even turn his back 90 degrees (like a scared coward) to avoid being hit.

Soto tried to fight Pacman, Marquez, Barrera, Morales, Linares, Guerrero and so many others since 2006, and they all chickened-out.
Its not Soto's fault that thee cowards-of-be wont step in the ring with him.

  11. I highly disagree. He put on a master performance against DeMarco -- one that any boxing fan should appreciate. Valero was in the opponent's hometown, he suffered a horrendous cut by DeMarco, and he still managed to OUTBOX and stop the fighter who many predicted would outbox Valero.

Valero's fundamentals were solid. His execution of punches, stepping in and out on balance, stepping to the side, etc... And in his last few fights you really noticed how much shorter, straighter, and tighter his punchers were compared to his early career.

Valero murdered his wife. There is no ****ing way in hell he was afraid of fighting Soto.

  13. Now you're just getting into semantics. Clearly winning every round would certainly be considered as dominating in the eyes of many.

De Marco was nothing more than as touted good prospect and he is not in the caliber of Khan and Bradley so it's so stupid for anybody to use the De Marco fight as reference to what Valero could have done if he is still alive and fighting.

  15. Guzman made Soto look silly. Soto has two left feet and he got his ass totally outclassed by Guzman.
