Punches exchanged at short range for the first minute, with Corley ripping double right hooks to the body and again changing his position on the inside often enough to keep Matthysse out of rhythm. Matthysse is still landing shots, though as Corley is just hanging in the pocket too long and throwing too many punches, taking too many chances. Matthysse lands a partially blocked uppercut that snaps Corley's head back. Corley snaps off a double hook up high and dances away on his toes, looking sharp. Matthysse lands a hook to the body as Corley pops a 1-2 to the chest and shimmies out, doing a bit of a shoulder-pop and a shuffle. Matthysse just rips him with more body shots. HARD uppercuts to the stomach and chin by Matthysse moments before the bell.

Round 4

Matthysse leads with a right to the body and then covers up as Corley takes the lead and pops off combos (all initiated with a right hook). Matthysse spanks him with a few left hooks to the body as Corley is bobbing on the outside and pot shotting. Jab through the guard and a right hook to the body by Corley. Matthysse leans into him and slams him with body blows and tries an overhand right. HARD right hook to the face by Corley. They separate momentarily but come right back together, with Corley landing a left uppercut to the face. Then they come together too much and have to be pried apart by the referee once clamped. Matthysse works him into the ropes and digs to the body. Corley looks for breathing room and gets out in the open ring but is there tagged with head shots. Corley looks vulnerable!! He battles back and keeps moving and manages to push Matthysse down by the back of the neck to contain him. Matthysse keeps coming at him and is headlocked. Corley clinches again once they're split.

Another frustrating round from a scoring standpoint. Corley seemed to have it in the bag about 2 minutes in and then looked very much like a guy who might be about to get knocked out the rest of the way.

Round 5

Corley jabs high and low, sheathing the right hand quickly and yanking himself out of the pocket after every release. Matthysse catches him and seems to have him a bit hurt again, and just cleaves to him. HARD RAPID left hook to the body sequence by Matthysse. HARD LEFT HOOK TO THE FACE!!!! Matthysse keeps the punches pouring on and Corley takes a knee. He shakes his head and hoists himself back up and immediately ties up. Matthysse misses a sweeping guillotine hook once they're split. Corley keeps looking to tie up and has a left hook crash behind his ear before successfully doing so. Matthysse is going bat **** with left hooks to the body and hard right uppercuts blasting off like rockets into Corley's chin (but mostly getting stifled by Corley's chest as he falls in). LEFT HOOK FROM HELL TO THE RIBS, OH MY GOD CORLEY GOES TO A KNEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Somehow he gets up and is saved by the bell.

I had filled in the score with about ten seconds left to save time and realized immediately after hitting Submit that it had to be adjusted.

Round 6

Corley is keeping it very ugly, hugging constantly. Finally Corley decides to trade and whips right hooks to the body while keeping his head cushioned in the relative safety and comfort of the crook of Matthysse's shoulder. Matthysse just keeps punching and punching, mostly little arm punches down low to get Corley to drop his guard but damn they add up. Right to the face by Matthysse and Corley does another little showboating shuffle, but is clearly hurt. CORLEY DOWN AGAIN (combo - right hand to the jaw, left hook to the body). He's up and keeps clogging the inside with his fists just spinning around each other trying to knock Matthysse's hands away but a few shots get through and Corley nearly goes down!!!!
