The article says it was published on 19th Jan 2011 but I bought and read it a few months ago :?

It's an excellent book apart from one dreadfully dull chapter towards the end which skirts through Sharkey's life after boxing.

Can you give more info such as how detailed is it ? Is there a style or level of information you can compare to other boxing bio's ?

Amazing list - a lot of which I have but also a lot I don't so I'll have a trawl through them - BUT JAB, IF THERE'S ONE BOOK YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST GET IT IS THIS ONE

    [ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Boxings-Mister-President-Heavyweight-Championship/dp/0952448947/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1295700903&sr=1-1[/ame]

    - I SWEAR TO GOD IT IS THE BEST BOOK, CERTAINLY ON HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING HISTORY THAT I HAVE EVER EVER READ (and one which has inspired me to start writing my own) - I REALLY CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH HOW MUCH YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK - MORE RECENTLY ANOTHER COUPLE OF MY FAVES HAVE BEEN THE SAM LANGFORD BOOK BY OUR MATE CLAY MOYLES AND THE HARRY GREB ONE BY BILL PAXTON

That was the publish date of the newspaper article about the book, I believe.

I'll have to check it out when Im able. Thank you.

I liked the Langford book a great deal but I just haven't been able to get into the Greb book, which is very disappointing. I'll keep plugging away though and hopefully it'll pick up. It probably doesn't help that Im reading "Joe Gans" by Colleen Aycock and Mark Scott at the same time and am very much enjoying it.

My favorite book so far has been "Barney Ross" by Douglas Century. Just a great page turner with fantastic insight into Ross' life.

Why does everyone have to quote a list that takes several pages to scroll through? Do you expect everyone to re-read it as many times as it has been repeated?

Just read your post over on CBZ too ...... no way I would describe this book as a scholarly read but also it isn't a romantic bull**** love-fest for Sharkey either ...... probably treads the middle ground.
