Guys that has fought Klitschkos has earned their shot (except Chisora and Briggs..) for the title by fighting their way up. When they lose that fight their ranking goes back down and they has to start all over again. Sam Peter is an example that they can't 'manipulate' their mandatories. I don't believe that your frustration goes away by Wlad giving voluntary shot for Arreola or Gomez. Quite the opposite; you'd probably be here posting about 'fat fighter who's already ruined by Vitali' and vice versa. And if you look all this from marketing point of view it's hard to sell a fighter that already lost to another brother for casual fan who doesn't know that 'styles make fights'. It's not like those twenty million Klitschko fans are boxing historians or even hanging on boxing forums. For them an undefeated fighter is more intriguing to see than a guy that they already witnessed getting one sided beating. You see this even in Floyd-Mosley-Pacquiao. A year ago Floyd got mad props for taking Mosley but now people are protesting Pac for taking him. I don't like those rematch clauses either but they can ink that only to voluntary defenses and like I said; they barely fight those at all. And to this date they are irrelevant because like we all know; they don't lose even rounds let alone fights. Hopefully they'll fight only mandatories from now on so Holyfield and other has beens can kiss their easy payday wishes goodbye.
In other surprising news, New Zealanders quite fond of David Tua, and Kostya Tszyu has a big following in Australia and Russia.
You're probably on the money with that one. It is a unique situation, and no matter what happens it's easy to think that it's happening because they're brothers and run the same promotional company. Arreola is fat whoever fights him, that's the problem... Take Adamek for example. I just looked him up. He's ranked #3 by the IBF and WBC. (Tho the IBF don't have a 1 & 2?? Not Ranked - is that becuase the WBA and WBC beltholders supposedly fill those???). Anyway. Let's say Adamek signs to fight whichever brother wants to show up on the day (that's the contract he's signed isn't it?). If he fights Wlad, and loses - how far should that push him down the WBC rankings? I think it should have minimal impact - unless of course the WBC think Wlad is ****? That's on the of the things that pisses me off about boxing now as it is, having 2 brothers just amplifies it. I get the marketing angle, and the making money side. But that's we have so many old guys still fighting that are "names", and fights aren't getting made on ability. I didn't think Mayweather should have fought Mosley, and I don't think Pac should either. Those 2 should be showing they can beat the next generation, not the last one. If they're so irrelevant, why bother putting them in then? I'm just being a ***** with that BTW.... It just stinks to me. And guys that have no chance of winning would happily sign it, as you say, it's not going to happen anyway. But if you thought you were half a chance, would you sign your life away? I certainly wouldn't. I'd tell them to shove it up their arse, and go on making money without them. It may take a couple or 3 fights to do so, but so what? If you lose to the K bros, your earning potential dies in the arse, and if you win you've signed with the devil.
He should have posted his 'masterpiece' in the British section or at least specified that the 'fans' he's referring to reside in the Greater London area.
im an irish haye fan, because when and even before he turned pro he was a monster, its all very well pointing to haye/valuev and haye/harrison now, but he doesnt have a 90 percent KO ratio for nothing
Poland is a pretty nice place actually. How many generations do you go back in england anyway, i always got the idea your parents were off the boat.:think
No offense mate, but Ireland is firmly in grip of the British media. That's what I meant by Greater London.
Oh and David could have been a very good fighter for the division. He doesn't have the balls for it though, i find the brothers pretty boring myself, not a huge fan of David's semi ******ed personality at times, but at least it gets people talking. If he would have done the business against some decent opponents and done his all to get the Klit fights then you couldn't criticize him. It would have been great for the division however it transpired. Talk is cheap and it makes a mockery of such a noble sport when you don't back it up. He wouldn't have been a long term solution anyway, he has too many weaknesses to be a serious beltholder. Wlad gets away with it through cheating basically, which is facilitated by his size and reach advantage. Guess we will have to wait.
it does signify that I can make my own mind up, case in point, I always said john duddy would never be a world champion
I know what you mean and I agree. When Cotto lost to Pacquiao, there was still people saying that they wanted to see Cotto against other world champions. That just doesn't happen in the heavyweight division becuse, wrongly, the brothers are seen as one. Once a guy loses, they're out of consideration for a long time which isn't right because they could still be a genuine opponent. If Adamek loses to Wlad, which I'd bet everything on, he won't be considered a viable opponent for Vitali. It's wrong. Another issue with this two-headed world champion is how selective they are about their opponents. There's a definite pattern, where Wlad takes on the younger, fresher guys and Vitali takes on the harder hitting, less technically sound fights. That sort of selective opposition can only happen in the heavyweight division because, as I said, we have a two headed world champion. There's so many negatives surrounding the Klitschko's right now. The opponents they fight, the opponents they don't fight, the negotiations, the refusal to fight outside Germany...I think it's sad, honestly. They could, and should for the sake of boxing, do so much more.
