If only Edwin Valero was alive, he'd be steamrolling these fighters at 135/140...

Like IB said, he has become overrated since he died. Some of the guys mentioned would have managed him with ease. Especially at 140lbs.

No.... now thats UNDERRATING him. Theres nobody from 135-140 who would've beaten him "with ease". Pac would have beaten him with ease, but thats about it.

He could have proved a very tough fight for either Alexander, or Bradley, and he'd have been a live threat to KO Con.

'Ease' was probably a strong word, but they would have beaten him.

He had one good win to his name, that was his last bout. What makes you think his power carries to 140lbs? No-one knows that it would.

And although he did show a bit of boxing ability in his last bout, he was still pretty much limited. He could definitely be outboxed, and was fairly easy to hit. Someone with decent pop could make it an easy night.

Valero was aggressive but was overrated and had poor defense. Would've gotten knocked out eventually.

Valero was and is so overrated

The guy didnt do anything to warrant this mythical stature he gets other then being physically gifted, beating everyone youre supposed to beat while on your way up the ladder, and the ever important dying young.

What fighter did Valero ever beat that Khan, Bradley, or Maidana, Judah, and Matthyse for that matter, wouldnt have also beaten? Meanwhile, these guys have actually fought some top opponents, in higher weightclasses.... and yet Valero eats them up? lol... funny.

No way nor reason Id favor Valero over Matthyse, or Bradley.

Actually, I just meant Soto at 130 period, he looks ordinary at 135. Posters here saying Valero was one dimensional, no defense etc don't know wtf they're talking about. What got people so excited about Valero in the first place is he had crushing power but also had fantastic defensive, countering, moving skills to go with it. The man could box like a dream when he wanted to, and crush a mofo with one punch. If he carries his power to 140 he doesn't lose to anyone but Pac, but it's really an open question as to whether his power goes with him if he moved up another weight class. We'll never know.

Berto's uppercut would cleanly separate Valero's head from his neck.

  12. Berto got his ass thoroughly schooled by Collazo and hasn't faced anyone with a pulse since.

Valero has been mad overated lately on here. The guy has one (arguably 2) good wins. None against anyone considered a decent champ. He would get owned by all the top guys at 140, even Kotelnik.

  15. Ok, he won the 12th round. Too bad he lost 6 rounds before that.
